Dick Devin, senior at Hcppncr High School, was named to the 1988 A ll State Class A First team defease as a defensive back Craig Angell. senior at Hcppncr. was named to First Team offense as a receiver Named to second team defense was defensive end, M ike Mahoney , senior and linebacker. D ick Devin, running back Russell B ritt, ju n io r and Craig Angell. punter A ll o f these young men deserve being reco gn ized fo r th e ir accomplishments Ward receives recognition Glen W ard o f Hcppncr was awarded Employee of the Year and (XiLstanding Biologist o f the Year for the Nonhcast Region o f the Oregon Department o f Fish and W ild life (O D F W ) Glen Ward has been Hcppncr D istrict W ild life Biologist since September 1952 W a rd deve lo pe d the fir s t Regulated Hunt Areas in the O dum - bia Basin, now providing hunting ac cess to private lands for public use He is currently monitoring elk in his fistrict in cooperation with Umatilla National Forest This project uses radio telemetry equipment to deter mine elk m igration patterns and habitat usage in relation to timhr-r %» ♦ harvest activities Perhaps the most im p o rta n t of W a rd 's ac complishments has been the develop ment and maintenance o f a close w orking relationship with private landowners based on mutual trust W ard was selected fo r the Outstanding Biologist award by O D FW employees in the Northeast Region Ward was also recognized by Warren W Aney.
