Raab says, there are new recommendations for disposal of spoiled low-acid foods Before discarding, detoxify the spoiled food by removing the lid and then plac ing the jar. its contents, and the loose lid in hot water deep enough to cover the jar Boil all items for 30 minutes Cool and then discard in garbage can or bury in soil This should prevent any chance of accidental poisoning One of the ways to prepare for the 1988 canning season is to discard old reference materials.
