Wy where they attended the 1988 Western Regional 4 H Ixaders Forum Grieb and Meakins were among 18 leaders Imm Oregon parlic ipating in the March 16-20 conference designed to help volunteer leaders hy enhancing leadership skills and developing ideas to improve local programs The five day event brought together more than 400 leaders front 13 western stales and 4 countries In keeping with the theme. 4 H Frontiers. Pjst and Present the forum presented tours, a frontier festival and 61 workshops These skill sessions included pro|Ccrt. idea, and thow to) mini courses in every area of 4 H. with a three hour kick o ff with Dr Fdwin Amend who directed the hands on (Group leadership and Me) for every participant Grtch said the most interesting and informative session dealt with per sonality styles Wc learned that knowing who wc are and whs we ast the way wc do. helps us respond and communn jlc ellcclively with others Meakins found the most in teresting session to he all about 4-H rodeo Mew Mexico has a strung 4 H rodeo program that they shared with leaders from other states Th.- rodeo program stresses salcty and it helps to keep the older members in 4 H The Capstone address was given by Dr James kcm . a nationally rccogni/ed leader on education and family “ Kcm is an outstanding speaker.
