(Xinher 30 in an exciting league match up Running was the name o f the game t**r both teams as they combined for over 6 V ) yards rushing and only 112 yards passing. Junior tailback Dustin Padberg led pouit After attempt, the Blue Devils led the game 8-0 From the first play from the line o f scrimmage. Ball out ran everyone on the Condon team running for a 75 yard touchdown Condon scored again in the quarter to make the score at the end o f one 14-6 Condon look advantage o f a C ar dinal fumble to score on two Laney V yard runs with point after attempt on twenty three carries for 184 yards Sen ax quarterback Kevin Ball also played a fine game with ten carries for 123 yards He also chipped in a touchdown Condon started the game driving the entire length o f htc field for a touchdown after the successful the Cardinals with two touchdowns C ard s defeat Grizzlies in home match p n m u t>. November b to take part in the district tournament in which they earned a spot last week The Cards were led by senior Rondi Tews, junior Jill Nelson and sophomore Mary Cupps The Car dinals lost the first game 15 9 inspite o f play ing well Tews and Nelson combined for a very potent serving attack scoring one third o f all the points scored in the second match Cups also played a very good game at (he net blocking several good scoring attempts by the Con don Blue IX’ vils lone controlled the second game handily and rolled to an casv victory 15b lone couldn’t keep up the intensi ty however, as they lost the third game 15 8 Playing her last volleyball game tor lone was senior Rondi Tews who has played well all w a v in Tews was a very dependable hackcourt player with a deadly serve that was capable o f striking anywhere at anytime Despite being a very good player, she was a very strong leader and played with good intensity. Oc- lobcr 27 The Cardinals were led by Senior Kondi Tew s who decimated the H ein front line with desastating w r ving in the first game scoring sis times for the Cards Junior Angie Rudisill also played a very fine game with thirteen sets and five good serves The Cards took the first game 15-7 in an emotional first game going to Nation lone scored late in the half on an 8 yard run by Padberg The score at the half was 22-12 in favor o f Condon. lone came out fired up in the se cond half by dominating the third scoring once on a 2 yard run by Padberg The pomt after attempt was convened by Ball with the most spectacular run in the game He soared several feet over the Cardinal line to score the point After the Cardinal third quarter, the Blue Devils scored twice to put the game out o f reach for the C ar dinals and a tw o yard run by Laney and an A n d erson pass fro m W inslow The final score o f the game was 36-20 in favor o f the Blue Devils In spite o f losing the game by 16 points the game was one o f the most enter taming o f the season for the large crowd that had gathered to watch it. The second game was filled with energy as the G rizzlies tried to force the Cardinals into a three game scries. Alisha Aikntan and Ed Riet man. 6th grade Bridger Baker and April Taylor Il i l M nm m m • IM N I >•< lone finishes season with 72 - 22 loss to Echo Cougars By S ea n W arren The lone Cardinals hosted the Echo Cougars Friday , Novem ber 6 for the last game at the season that was also lone’ s homecoming Echo's hopes o f an undeafeated season were riding on the game, as well as the added momentum o f win ning the game before the playoffs begin November 14 Echo scored on the second play from scrimmage on a Dan Mcartcy 33 yard touchdown scramble lone countered the run with junior tailback Dustin Padberg who »cored on lone’ s second play from scrim mage on a spectacular 80 yard run With the score being 6-6, Echo's high power offense took over with the high powered running combina tion ol Mcartcy and Neely, the star ting Echo backs Echo scored six straight times before lone scored again with a 10 yard run by senior running hack Kevin Ball. The score at the halt was 46-14 in tavor o f the Cougars The Cardinals came back after the half by outscor- ing the Cougars in the third quarter by one point Echo took control o f the fourth quarter scoring 18 points to nothing for the Cardinals The score at the end o f the game was 72-22 in favor o f Echo The points by the Cards in the third quarter were also v o re d by Padberg on a 2 yard run with a conversion by Kevin Ball With this win. the Cougars went 53) in league play and 9-0 fo the season Flic Cougars, as the Big Sky champions open the State playoffs Novem ber 14 hosting Prairie City with a 7 -1 league record and an 8 I overall record Prairie City closed out their season Fridav by defeating Lon g Creek 54 28 Playing their last game for the lone football team were seniors Kevin Ball. Carl Bork.
