The lone Cardinals played the
Condon Blue Devils Friday. (Xinher

spite o f losing the game by 16 points
the game was one o f the most enter
taming o f the season for the large
crowd that had gathered to watch it.
The second game was filled with
energy as the G rizzlies tried to force
the Cardinals into a three game

lone finishes season with 72 - 22 loss to Echo Cougars

The lone Cardinals hosted the
Echo Cougars Friday , Novem ber 6
for the last game at the season that
was also lone’ s homecoming
Echo's hopes o f an undeafeated
season were riding on the game, as
well as the added momentum o f win
ning the game before the playoffs
begin November 14
Echo scored on the second play
from scrimmage on a Dan Mcartcy
33 yard touchdown scramble lone
countered the run with junior
tailback Dustin Padberg who »cored
on lone’ s second play from scrim­
mage on a spectacular 80 yard run
With the score being 6-6, Echo's
high power offense took over with
the high powered running combina­
tion ol Mcartcy and Neely, the star­
ting Echo backs Echo scored six
straight times before lone scored
again with a 10 yard run by senior
running hack Kevin Ball.
The score at the halt was 46-14 in
tavor o f the Cougars The Cardinals
came back after the half by outscor-
ing the Cougars in the third quarter
by one point
Echo took control o f the fourth
quarter scoring 18 points to nothing
for the Cardinals
The score at the end o f the game
was 72-22 in favor o f Echo The
points by the Cards in the third
quarter were also v o re d by Padberg
on a 2 yard run with a conversion by
Kevin Ball
With this win. the Cougars went

champions open the State playoffs

as quarterback on offensive and safe
ty on defense He played well despite
the lopsided final score
Bork started at defensive guard for
the Cardinals and finished playing
very well by helping the defensive
line stop the Echo offense on several
key series
Rea played the entire game as
center offensively and did a gtmxl job
giving Ball enough time to pass on
several occasions when the Cards
took to the air
Snider played o ffen sively at
fullback and linebacker on defense
He recorded over ten tackles to play
a very solid game
The final touchdown total for the
year is as follow s, senior quarter
hack Kevin Ball led the team with 18
touchdowns, junior running hack
Dustin Padberg was second with 11
o f his own. treshman Jim H oiu add
ed two touchdowns for the season
while senior fullback Ken Snider,
junior end Brian Ball and junior
quarterback Sean Warren eac h add

The leading rushers for lone were
Dustin Padberg with 887 yards
Kevin Ball took second in rushing

will speak to the children and show
Coach Dave Presley when asked
about foe season responded by
saying "th e season began with
rotating people into positions foey
weren't familiar with. With Ken
Snider's injury we had a hackfield
that was virtually untested W e had
a different offensive system than we
had last year which contributed to
some early mistakes I think that we
learned a lot in our outer league
competitions that allowed us to gain
experience fix good league plav I'm
glad that we had a chance to get into
the playoffs whereas a lot o f teams
never get foe opportunity to play for
a hope to get info post season play ”
