I*» i Fillies back at it again with injuries, leaving their backcourt in shambles I wouln't advise any last rights just yet for the men of M ille r, however speaking of basketball. I saw a quote from UCLA forw ard Keggie M iller warning the real of the world that "the Bruins are back " The North Carolina Tarheels listened carefully and made sure that the Bruins are way. way back, dumping the U'CLAna by an embarrassing score of 107 70 The whole of Pac 10 round ball is getting little or no respect from the rest of the country The Sporting News top AO yielded no teams from the Pac 10. and only two from the West at all ( Pepperdine and U N L V ) Given the recent showing of the Pac 10. it appears that they will have to earn some respect Hello again »porta fans from the North Pole of the West If this keeps up, Turning to football, have you followed the recent blow up concerning the we'll all need to take up »kung and bobsledding Sevrral Beaver fans were Clemson M aryland g am e’ Seems that an enraged Danny Ford 'O em son heard to comment at halftim e of last week s I ’O -OSl' gam e that they 'd be in head coach' threw a fit at the end of his team s lows to he Terrapins, favor of im m ediately taking up bobsledding without the bobsleds protesting an official s call At the same time, several of his players were Probably just a wild rumor beating up a M aryland player who had the misfortune of ending the last play It'a probably good fetching to let up on th e |t,aVer fans this week, as they of the game on the Clemson side The irony of the whole situation is that the got kind of a double barrelled shot last weekend As predicted here, D arrell same Danny Kord who is bitterly complaining that he is being mistreated is Aune was singing the "let's bring on basketball" blues on the radio the coach whose first game as Clemson coached ended with Woody Hayes of broadcast during the course of Oregon s blowout win In the m eantim e, U of Ohio State punching one of his players Anybody with the energy to do so P o rtland ’s basketball team was savoring its one point win over the Oregon could look up M r Ford's quotes a fter that childish outburst Funny how Staters in the cage opener The basketball Beavers have been bombarded things change when the shoe is on the other foot 1 saw an interesting note regarding the Pac 10 football race in the paper ( the other day For the first tim e in SO years every team in the league won at ' least two conference games Maybe parity is coming after all Food for thought Why la it that in the L ite Beer com m ercial with Hacksaw Keynolds he talks about hts exploits with a hacksaw, then ends by- destroying the set with a chainsaw ’ C R Y S T A L B ALL Our Crystal-Ball experts have really "crystallized", as they seem to think I Alt the w om an in this w orld put together w eigh, by one alike anymore This week with the exception of oddball Mike, the other estim ate. Just about 85 percent as much as all the men regular panel members are in agreement on 10 of the 14 games No creativity in this bunch' thia week's guest is that jewel of a M tK to r Kandall Peterson He w ill attempt to gild his selections into a winning week Last week 's guest Ted Toll - cam e up a little short Rumor is that he asked Ron Bowman for advice And the rest, as they say. is history Note I incorrectly listed George, Dale and Dave as having picked SI l,nui» last week, when they actually correctly picked New York Giants It seemed pretty weird that everybody picked St lazuia For that m atter, it's weird that anybody picked St Louis RECORDS Season 'last w eek' Dale »5 45 ' »At, Brent #2 48 ' 7-71.
