U T E P was rolling along like normal Amazing. Amazing Did you catch the seventh gam e of the World Series’ If so, you saw some strange goings cm After the gam e got out of hand and it became clear that Kansas City would complete its storybook comeback the Cardinals turned ugly Whitey Herzog and Joaquin Andujar got the heave ho for arguing ball strike calls Andujar is lucky that somebody jumped between himself and the umpire la-fore he threw a punch That might have merited a lifetim e suspension if he had done so Then John Tudor punched out an electric fan and cut up his hand The Cardinals have earned the reputation as a particularly high strung ballelub. and nothing that happened in the Series changed that assessment The Kovals meanwhile were about as loose a team as you'll find Down 3-1 in games to both Toronto and the Cards, the George Brett Ini Hoyals showed no signs of cracking Perhaps the veteran nature of the ballelub played a big role in that respect Wasn't it also nice In see a team win a World Senes at home without the fans destroying the stadium’ Quite a contrast to last year's show in Detroit The Blazers are off to a nice 2 0 start The bad thing about the NH A is the length of the season, however Games now are virtually meaningless Injuries, bad attitudes and other factors will make the league a totally different place by playoff time And only the weakest of the weak miss the playoffs anyway Oh well, it's fun anyway as long as they win. that is Quite a bit of action on the local scene this week also, as Heppner and lone both play home football games while the girls' volleyball tram shoots for a try at the state tourney in a gam e played Saturday in Heppner see related story) Have fun Trivia We have a winner in our trivia quiz contest Gordon Meyers of lone will receive a 3 piece chicken A Jo Jo Box at H A W Drive-in for correctly answering 19 of 20 questions 19 out of 20 is a terrific score, as some of the questions were very hard The only miss was the Ohio State question 1 Sorry folks, my Buckeye colors show through - I »o k for more trivia questions in the near future Enjoy that chickn Gorden Kunner up was Marion McMillan of la-xington Questions i An sw ers:) l«ast major leaguer to hit 400 (Ted W illiam s) Two current teams that used to tie the Washington Senators 'Texas Hangers Minnesota Twins' Team which ended Joe Dl.Maggio s 56gam e streak (C leveland' laist major leaguer with 150 rbl in season (Tom m y D avis).
