Dec 2 with a good crowd in attendance A potluck dinner started the day and was served from tables beautifully decorated in fall colors The meet ing was called to order by the Master, who opened the grange and introduced the following honored guests Martha Baker Greenfield Grange Master. Ceres and Marvin Wheeler m ember of the Oregon State Grange Youth Com mittee and M aster of M ultnom ah Pom ona Grangr The band. M ajor Motion, entertained with several numbers followed by several violin solos by Frances Smouse. and a fine, interes ting and entertaining talk by the speaker M arvin Wheeler on the various activities of the Grange, touching on the blind project, the hearing dogs and the deaf machines, the le g is la tiv e work and projects for the women Mr and Mrs Wheeler attended the National ses sion in Texas where he was chosen second place winner in the national talent contest as his work as a gospel singer He also entertained with a couple of fine numbers The lucky name of Dot Halvorsen was chosen to win the afghan made by Josie Peck for the G rangr The Kitchen Band from Stateline was also sche dulrd on the program but because of weather conditions, a heavy fog. they w ere unable to attend The program was under the direction of the Lecturer. Virginia Peck The Rebekah card party held on Saturday Dec :i was well attended Winning high prizes w ere Bob Tay lor. and Erma K eith ly . Low Edith Mathews and Charles Buchanan, and door prize-Cleta Walters Re freshments were served by the com mittee of Kathy Tellechea and Luella Taylor PN G Club met at the home of Delpha Jones for a Christmas lunch eon and meeting A lunch was served at I p m after which a short business meeting was held The Secret Sisters for 1984 were revealed and names w ere drawn for 1985 An election of officers was held with Joyce Buehanan-chairman. Hilda Yocom vice chairman and Virginia Peck-secretary treasure It was voted to purchase one or two trees for the Lexington cem etery, and plans will be made at the March meeting on planting them Hilda Yocom was appointed to contact the cem etery board on the planting plans Theose present w ere Leila Palm er, Hilda Yocom , Donna Pap ineau, Ruth Robinson. Virginia Peck and the hostess Ralph Burcham is a patient in Pioneer Memorial Hospital nursing home Mrs Burcham. from Enterprise spent several days last week at the home of Dorothy Burcham Kenneth and Linda Jones and sons were recent visitors with relatives in Salem, and in Portland where they were overnight visitors with his sister and fam ily Charlene Whitney They all attended the Ice Capades on Sunday Mr and Mrs C C Jones were o i l e r s at Priest River. Idaho a couple of days last week with the James Bowman fam ily Karl Miller, who underwent m ajor surgery at the Veterans Hospital in Walla Walla returned home on F r i day afternoon Marion Robinson received word this week of the death of her father.
