Beef Cook-Off "The variety of beef recipes that receive rave reviews is endless ", said Kay Markgraf. OK 97232 All entries must In- postmarked no later than January 18. 1985 Neighborhood center taking appointments for low income energy program The Heppner Neighborhood Cen ter is taking appointments for Dec ember 7, 14 and 21 for clients who need to meet with the lam Income Knergy Assistance Program worker said Center co-ordinator Pat Brin die Group appointments can be made at 10 a m and 1 p m to get as many clients as possible taken care of because federal funding has been reduced All clients must bring proof of all gross income wages, pensions, interest, dividends, grants lips, sal anes. Adult and Fam ily Service assistance or Cnemployment Com pensation This year clients are also required to have an electric bill as well as a fuel bill for their household which is to tie left at the Center Medical expenses paid by the client are the one allowable income deduction M edical expenses for which a client receives some form of reimbursement are inelligible False information can cause re payment of the allotment plus fines of up to 110,000 or emprisonment said Bundle Keleases are being mailed to Adult and Family Services, and Food Stamp recipients who must bring the information with them when applying for fuel assistance This year all people over age 18 must also bring their Social Security cards when apply ing The staff at the neighborhood Center will be glad to answer questions, make appointments, and help in any w ay that they can Call «78 5873 volunteers Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is an Internal Kevenue Service program for helping jxsiple who have problems preparing their in come tax returns says an IKS news release According to the IKS volunteers learn how to prepare a simple tax return by successfully completing a special training course in basic income tax return preparation Free classes are conducted by IKS and the Oregon Department of Kev enue during December and January and the volunteers work with tax payers at V IT A sites throughout the tax season.
