Bellevue, died early Sunday, Aug 12 at Blaine County Medical Center of a long illness Mis hospital stay was brief, since he had tieen cared for at home by his fam ily, as long as It was possible Duff was born April II, 1913. in Bowman. N D Me received his schooling near Bowman, then mov ed to Oregon in 1929 Me worked there as a cowboy and logger and also spent time rodeoing Me was married to Kate Adams on l>e< 25. 1934, in Meppner, Ore They made their home in Oregon until 1946 when they moved to Bellevue to establish a home and where they have since lived Kate and Duff would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Day in December 1984 In the Bellevue area, he worked as a contract hay hauler and a custom hayer for ranchers near Bellevue Duff M cKitrick had the reputation of being a fine and fair person in all his business dealings Mr had a wide circle of friends with whom he enjoyed chatting over a cup of coffee Me was a member of the Old Time Cowboys Association and traveled often through the years to attend rodeos and chat over old times with other old timers Duff is survived by his wife. Bo* »72. Hailey ID 83333 Mary Opal Holeman Mary Opal Holeman. 92. formerly of Yakima. Washington, died August 6. 1964 in Madison Eden Mouse Nursing Home She was bom April 1, 1892. in lone, to John M and ('ynthia Ann iMalei Cochran After graduating from Walla Wal la Business College in 1912. she was commissioned to operate the White Swan Post Office for three years Because the Yakima Indian Agency had its headquarters at nearby Fort Simcoe. White Swan was considered a key post office at that time On May 26. I»15, she married Kheuben Homes Holeman in lone, where they lived until moving to Yakima in 1921 They operated the Fairbanks Avenue Grocery until Mr Moleman s retirement in 1953 Mrs Holeman was the first PTA president of Garfield Grade School and served on the local election board for 30 years She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yakima for 63 years She sang in the church choir Mrs Holeman was a descendant of pioneer stock All four of her grandparents, as children, spent six months crossing the plains from Iowa and Indiana to thr Oregon territory in 1850 and 1851 where the families settled in Linn County Her great grandfather, the Rev William Sperry, organized Baptist Churches in western Oregon in the 1850 s Her grandparents. Milton and Mary Ellen Sperry Hale moved from lin n County to lone, in 1871 Mary Male was largely responsible for organiz ing four eastern Oregon Baptist Churches, including the one in lone, over 100 years ago Survivors include a son. H Archie Holeman of New York, two neph ews, Robert B Cochran of Gleed. who was raised in the Holeman home. John O Reese of Yakima, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband. R Holmes Holeman on Sept 4, 1961. a daughter. Marjory Ann Wimer on July 10. 1951 and by a son. Marion Holeman in 1925 The Morrow County Sheriff's Off ice at the Morrow County Court house in Heppner handled the follow ing business during the past week On August 13. the Heppner Fire Dept responded to a grass fire on the hill across the road from the Morrow County Fairgrounds The fire was extinguished On August 14. a Boardman ambu lance, the Hermiston office of the Oregon State Police, and the Mor row County Sheriff 's office respond ed to an accident with injuries at milepost 174 on Interstate 84 Three patients were transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston On August IS. the Is lin g to n Fire Department responded to a log truck on fire The log truck allegedly ran into an overhead powrr line Colum bia Basin Electric Co-op was also at the scene Also on August 15. the Boardman Police I>epartment responded to a motorcycle on fire at the Wilson Road Trailer Court In a third August 15 incident. Wilfred Ray Parker 31 Heppner was arrested on a charge of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants by the Morrow County Sheriff's Office He was released on his own recognizance On August 17. the Heppner Police responded to an accident at the corner of May and Chase streets Kathleen Hisler and lallian Sweek were driving the vehicles involved No citations were issued In a second August 17 incident, the Heppner Police Department re »ponded to an accident when a car driven by Tracie I. Hunch wax backing from a parking spot and allegedly hit another car No citations were issued On August 18. a Boardman ambu lance responded to I A I. Inc One male subject who had allegedly inhaled fumes was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermis ton In a second August 18 incident, a Boardman ambulance transported one male with an injury from a residence in Boardman to Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston On August 20.
