"We're having a birthday party for four people, a barbecue on Sunday at the golf course and relatives are coming to visit." Gonty gains BA & commission Eleanor and Ed Gonty and middle son Tom returned from Wyoming this week Mon day. They had been visiting with youngest son Doug (Char les D.) and his wife Anas Us is and their daughter Sophia at their borne in Cheyenne and had all attended Doug's com missioning and graduation at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. On Sunday, May 13, at the pre-noon commissioning cer emony, held in the East Ball room of the university, both Anastasia and Elaenor had the privilege of pinning Doug's 2nd Lt. bars on his uniform. Brig. General Jack W. Shep pard gave the commissioning address. A social period followed this ceremony. That afternoon at 2 p.m. many degrees were conferred during the 94th annual com mencement of the university. Doug gained his B.S. degree from the Department of Aero space Studies. He will conti nue studying at the university until September when he is to enter the Air Force Intelligen ce School in Denver for fur the study. The three Gonty 's enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Eleanor especially enjoyed being invited to agrand daugh ter Sophia's pre-school for lunch. Doug's wife is employ ed as a bank teller in Cheyen ne. He has commuted daily to Laramie, about 100 miles westward through the moun tains. Eleanor, Ed and Tom returned to Heppner through Ukiah where they stopped overnight last Sunday to visit with their daughter E.V. Halvorsens chosen by lone Garden Club r ' f -Q- !! H III or llllllMII i I""" The lone Garden Club has selected the yard of Lewis and Dot Halvorsen as the Yard of the Month for May. Their home is located on Third Street in lone across from the lone grade school. The house was moved from its former location about one and one-half miles from lone in 1957. It was rented for several years until 1972 when .Lewis and Dot moved into I J l i i .iiintiii i in-' "I -' town from their ranch home for one year, then their son, Frank and his family lived there until 1982 when Lewis and Dot again moved back to town In 1982, the Halvorsens had the yard landscaped and un derground sprinklers were in stalled.
