Heppner merchants ask input for 1985 Heppner merchants met last Friday, March 23, at Kate's Pizza and Pastery to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of this past St. Patrick's Day celebration. The merchants expressed a desire for com ments from area residents about the day's events so that they would be better able to plan for next year. We will have to "come up with some good ones(ideas) to beat this year," encouraged Jim Far ley. Suggestions may be addres sed to Linda Hutchinson, 676 9001, who presided at the informal meeting. Six other local merchants were pres ent; they termed the day "a success." "We got a lot of good will out of the day," commented Hutchinson. The parade and the perfor mances by the Baker Drum and Bugle Corps were men tioned as the two elements which seemed to appeal to alone in this accomplishment. Three areas were discussed which merchants cited as needing improvement next year: - Many people had express ed disappointment to various merchants that the Heppner High School band did not march in the parade; -Some people who did not have recreational vehicles had mentioned their inability to find overnight lodging; and -More people may have been able to watch the parade if the route had been longer. A teen-age dance was sug gested as a possible addition for next year's celebration as a means of including this age group. Other suggestions tor next year were: a team of pack, horses for the parade as well as an exhibit, more "side walk" stands, and the expan sion of the celebration to include two days. other Heppner businesses Abslract jjjirf,i mi lone woman celebrates birthday A group of lone ladies met last Thursday, March 22, at Beecher's Cafe in lone to help Anna Ball celebrate her 77th birthday.
