The Portland Marathon was Vinson's first, although he has participated in many other runs. The Portland race was about Beck's 12th marathon. JV Cards take win from Eagles By ASHLEY CONKLIN With 14 points from Brian Douglas and 13 from Mike Rietmann the lone boys' ju nior varsity team ran their record to 2-0 with a 44-33 win over the Spray Eagles on Saturday. Dec. 3 at lone. lone started out strong in the first quarter, taking a 14 to 4 lead! Spray came right back in the second stanza and took an 18-17 lead at halftime. Douglas scored seven and Rietmann six of the Cardinals' 15 points in the third period as lone took a 34 to 23 lead going into the final quarter. In the final quarter lone scored 12 and Spray scored 10. as lone won 44 to 33. Chris Shen led the Eagle scoring attack with 13 points. Besides Douglas and Riet mann. Steve Millman scored eight for lone. The Cards were 6 of 16 from the charity stripe. 38 percent. The Eagles were one for five, 20 percent. lone will play host to the Heppner freshmen on Friday. Dec. 9. and will travel to Boardman to play the River side J V. team on Saturday. Dec. 10. NOTICE OPEN HOUSE-WORKSHOPS UMATILLA NATIONAL FOREST In preparation of an environmental impact statement and forest plan pursuant to the National Forest Management Act (NFMA), the Umatilla National Forest will provide open house-workshop style sessions for public participation in re-identifying and evaluating roadless and undeveloped areas, and their significant resource issues. Open house-workshop style sessions will be available for a 30-day period beginning January 9 through February 7, 1984, in the Forest's headquarters at 2517 S.W. Hailey Avenue, Pendleton, Oregon. Hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and additionally, the Saturdays and Sundays of January 14-15, and January 21-22, 1984. Appoint ments can be scheduled during these periods on several days prior notice. All interested persons are urged to avail themselves of this opportunity to participate and make their input into the planning process.
