Juanita Ryan or Irrlgon. Jean Rrazell or Lexington, Ruth McCabe. lone, and Birdine Tullis or lone attended. The purpose or the training was piloting a very new program which will be offered in Ore gon next year. Others attend ing the "pilot" or test training session were from Umatilla and Grant counties, along with Extension Agents Dawn Local group to take part in Christmas" Bird Count On December 21. the Hep pner High School Biology Three Class will head the Ruggsd-Hardman annual Christmas Bird Count, which will be one of 1.500 similar counts taken from Hawaii to labrador. and from Alaska to Venezuela, during the period of December 17 to January 2. This year marks the 84th anniversary of the original count, taken on Christmas Dav. 1900. by a group of birdwatchers in 25 locations, mostly around major north eastern cities. Presently, plans are under way to offer a preview of a children's clothing workshop in Morrow and Umatilla coun ties during January. Those interested may then choose to attend future sessions on children's clothing which will be orfered in various locations and will include beginning, intermediate and advanced sewing skills. But how they got there is another story. Friday night they came from behind to defeat the Mohawk Indians 69-64. One way to sum up the win was the amount of free throws Heppner made. 27 for 50. Greg Orr was 11 for 19 from the line and led all scores with 27 points and eight rebounds. After an even first quarter (17-17), Mohawk jumped out to a 35-27 lead at halftime. From there Orr and Thompson took over as Heppner out-scored Mo hawk 25-9 in the final period and took the 69-64 win. Eric Thompson contributed 12 points with excellent free throw shooting. Heppner found out earlier who they were going to play when Riverside defeated Embler 59-55. Saturday night the battle was on. The Mustangs started out well, playing with a lot of hustle, going all out against Heath - 548. High game: Al Bunch - 257, Bob Hubbard - 221 and Elmer Heath 212. M.C.G.G. sponsoring contest Morrow County Grain Growers is sponsoring a con test for students in Morrow Co. to design a logo which will be used by the company on advertising and other items of corporate identification, announced Larry Mills, M.C.G.G. manager. The first place winner will receive a $100 cash award, a second place prize of $50 will be given and the third place winner will receive $25. In addition, an award of $100 will be presented to the school that the first place winner is enrolled in. The money will be donated to an organization within the school that is desig nated on the entcry form of the first place winner. Entries will be judged and prizes awarded by December 22.
