On mast crops, the farmer has the choice of buying an insurance policy that guaran tees 75 percent. 65 percent or 50 percent of the yield for the area. The farmer also may choose to participate In the agency's individual yield coverage proRram which customizes the policy based on the farmer's own production history. If an insured farmer parti cipates in the U.S.D.A.'s acreage reduction program at the minimum SO percent, the U.S. P. A. crop insurance agency will automatically increase the yield guarantee hv six percent. If the farmer puts 30 percent of the acreage into an acreage reduction program, plus 10 percent into P.I.K., he or she will get an eight percentn crease in yield guarantee. If the farmer places 20 percent of the coverage into P.I. K.. the vield guarantee increases by 10 percent. "We see the Increases in guarantee as a mean for increasing participation and keeping currently insured wheat farmers in the pro gram." said Sprague. Mrs Vinson lives at 270 E. East St. in Lexington. She has been busv all sum mer planting many spring bulbs, as well as dahlias, snapdragons petunias and other flowers, said a club spokesperson. The Garden Bugs presented her a $15 gift certificate from Green Feed Store in Heppner. Retired educators to meet October 1 Unit 9. Oregon Retired Edu cators Association, will meet in Milton Freewater on Satur day. Oct. l. A business meet ing will begin at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at 12 noon and a program at 1 p.m., said an association spokesperson. A fall meeting of the Eas tern Oregon Library Associa tion is planned for this Satur day. Oct. 1. in Heppner. The morning session will begin at the Heppner Public Library at 8:30 a m. with registration. Heppner Public Librarian Bethel Heinrichs and Heppner High School Librarian Marion Abrams are hosting the event. During the morning, a dis cussion will be held on "What's Going On In E.O L A Libraries?" and a report will be given on the nomination committee and election of officers. The afternoon session will be held at the Heppner High School Library. A highlight of this part of the meeting will be a discussion bv John Webb. administrator of technical services for the Oregon State Library. At a regular meeting of the lone City Council on October 4, a citizens' committee will give Heppner Christian Women's Oub to meet Oct. 4 for salad buffet The Heppner Christian Women's Club will meet Tuesday. Oct. 4. 6:45 p.m., at the Degree of Honor Hall in Heppner for a salad buffet. Theme for the month will be "Oktoberfest." A silent auction will be held for a special feature, with officers to bring many craft items, said a club spokesper son. Lovena Contras of Echo is to provide special music, and speaker for the evening will be Mrs Clifford Taylor of Hood River. The course will be offered Thurs day evenings beginning Sept. 29 Class will meet in the Morrow County sheriff's office in Heppner from 6:30 to 9:30 p m Cost of the course is $45 for the three credit class. Topics to be covered in class include: police power, legisla tive law making, theory of crime, correction systems and a general overview of the criminal justice system.
