History stories sent to publisher Family history stories for the Morrow County History Book have been picked up and sent to the publisher, said a committee spokesperson; however, there is still a short time to get memorial and tribute pages in, and articles of community interest. The number of histories and book sales exceeded the required amount for publication. Starr, valedictorian, has a 4 0 G.P.A. He is the son of Chuck and Deena Starr of lone. He is president of National Honor Society at IHS. is secretary-treasurer of the student body and president of the Boys' U'tter. Club. Starr was a school winner in this year's National Math Con test and has represented Mor row County in the State Spel ling Contest during two of his four years at HIS. He also was a winner of the "Voice of Democracy" essay contest at lone High. Commen cement exercises will be held June 2 at the HHS cafetorium, at 7:30 p.m. (See related story). Marlatt. son of Wesley and Wilma Marlatt of Heppner, has a combined G.P.A. of 3.84. During his four years at HHS he has served as student body president, was a mem ber of H Club, National Honor Society, and he lettered in football and track. He was chosen for the 1983 Shrine Football Team, placed third in an Elks Most Valuable Student Contest and was named a 1983 United States National Award winner in football. Future plans include atten ding Brigham Young Univer sity to major in biochemistry. Connor, the son of Dean and Shirley Connor of Heppner, has a G P A. of 3.61. A National Honor Society member, he lettered in foot ball, basketball and baseball. Gount extension agent to Morrow County Extension Agent John Nordheim of Hep pner will begin a new assign ment in Grant County on June I. He and his wife, Debbie, and their daughter, Carta, plan to live in John Day. Nordheim has served as 4-H and livestock agent in Morrow County since 1979. One of his accomplishments was organi zing a regional lamb market ing pool. In Grant County he will work with commercial live stock and crop production programs and will assist with Packwood to Senator Bob Packwood will address Heppner High School's graduating class of 1983 next Thursday, June 2, at the 7:30 p.m. commencement in the school's gymnasium. His topic is to be "Leader ship." Valedictorian Wes Marlatt and salutatorian Greg Connor will also address their class mates, teachers, families and friends. Dale Holland of Heppner has been selected as an hono rary coach for the South Team of the Fourth Annual AA-A North-South All-Star Baseball Series announced Don Ruec ker of Junction City High School, series director. The series will be held in Roseburg June 18-19. Holland recently retired after 25 years of coaching baseball: the last 17 years were spent at Heppner High School, where he still teaches, The former Heppner coach, along with three others, are being honored by the Baseball Coaches' Association for their many contributions to high school baseball.
