Lexington news Delpha Jones 989-8189 Lexington tSrange met Monday nlttht beginning with a pot luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. Following this, there wus a program by Hill Nichols on the County Search and Rescue Pomre. He told of the school ing that members must take, and explained the extensive equipment the group has. All members volunteer their time and equipment. Anyone interested In joining the posae may contact Bill Nichols. A slide presentation of before and after Mt. St. Helens errupted was given by Mr. Nichols. The slides are available for viewing through the Search and Rescue organ ization. Guests at the meeting were Dot and Imis Halvorsen. Dot talked to the group alout Pomona C.W.A. work, and lined officers up for Initiation, which will be held Sunday, with first and second degrees and a potluck dinner at 2 p.m. with the third and fourth degrees following The grange picnic, origi nally planned for June, has been postponed until August. Barbara and Orville Cuts forth were elected as alter nates to state grange in case the master and his wife are unable to attend. State grange will be held in Ashland June Garden club attends 21-2:1, !' The Rlue Mountain Fiddlers will make their annual visit at !exington Grange Hall ,on October 15. The Three Links Club met Thursday at Leila Palmer's home. They discussed a trip to 1 Verne Henderson's home In Hood River on June 9. The ladies plan to take the senior citizen bus. They will enjoy lunch with 1 4i Verne and an afternoon of visiting. Those present were : Dorot thy Rurcham, Kathy Telle chea. Luella Taylor, Joyce Buchanan, Virginia Peck, Fula Rloodsworth, Catie Pad berg. Delpha Jones and the hostess. Donna Papineau fell on the street last week and received treatment for lacerations. She is confined to her home. Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Jones were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kd Hudson of La Grande Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Glover Peck and Mrs. Raymond Peck were Oregon City callers last week where they visited rela tives. What'8 Your Opinion? meeting On May 3. five lone Garden Club members went to Condon to a'tend their club's regular meeting. This month the meeting was held at the home of Myrtle Potter, where her greenhouses hold plants get ting a head start on Condon's short growing season, repor ted an lone Club member. Some of the plants were star ted by club members and will be sold at the club's plant sale scheduled for May 20 A lobelia plant was presented to each of the visitors. A slice program on green house techniques prepared by the OSU Extension Service was shown and lone Garden Club members enjoyed sitting in on the Condon Club's busi ness meeting, hearing reports on the busy club's many projects. Alt entries eligible (or the grand prize drawing on Tuesday, May 24 552) 03555 Sign Up for the Great Grocery Give-Away in Heppner Only at Reduced tillage chemicals to be discussed at meetings The Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday, May 19, 1983 THREE- A field trip to the fire hall HvHOU COSTA OSU Kxtension Agent Morrow County "Chemicals for Reduced Tillage" Is the subject of breakfast meetings scheduled for Pendleton on May 25 and at The Dalles on May 26, The meetings are to start at 7:30 a.m. and will be held at the Red Lion Motor Inn in Pendle ton and the Portage Inn at The Dalles. The programs are hosted by the chemical companies, the OSU Extension Service, and the Soil Conservation Service. The program, identical at both sites, will consist of pre sentations by representatives of seven chemical companies who supply herbicides used in reduced tillage situations such as no-till, chemical fallow and conservation tillage. Farmers are invited to attend one of the sessions. The breakfasts will be hosted by the chemical com panies. If vou plan to attend, caii the extension office in Heppner (676-9642) by 12 noon on May 23 to be sure the chefs plan for enough meals. Heppner students place in FFA contest Heppner FFA members placed second in the tractor driving division of a FFA contest held last Friday in Millon-Freewater. Jay Hayes placed fourth and Kent Kluk kert was eighth high overall. Other members involved in tractor driving from Heppner were Tony Clement, Alex Lindsay and Bob McEwen. The freshman livestock judging team placed fourth out of 12 teams at the contest. Alex Lindsay was second high individual in the Freshman contest. Other Heppner freshmen involved Tammy Hays and Kim Wright. The advanced team placed seventh out of 13 teams In livestock judging. Members on the advanced team are Shane Laughlin, Rod Cole, Bob McEwen, Bridget Green up and Greg Orr. Judging as alternates were Mark Way, Shelley Stroeber and' Kent Klukkert. UJTJo j Lexington Christian Pro-schoolers took a tour of the Heppner Fire Hall Tuesday. They learned about fire-fighting equipment and heard a fire truck's iren.
