You've finally taken the financial plungo: you and your family have Juat moved into brand-new home. The houae Itaelf ii beautiful, but what about ill ground? If they're like moit new devel opment, your tandacape ia bound to be pretty barren. And because buying a new home is such a major investment, you may have juat a little left over with which to at art buying planta to beautify your yard. If that'a the case with you, don't worry! Most landscape firms, in fact, urge their cus tomers to plant the slowest growing trees first (such aa willow and oak) and then add bushes and flowers lat er, as they can be afforded. "How ' much should I spend on my yard?" is a question that many new homeowners ask. A rule of thumb among landscape firms is ten percent of the house's value, or $10,000 on a $100,000 home. If ten percent sounds high, consider this: survey hsve shown that a beautiful yard can add as much aa 25 percent to the value of the property when it cornea time to sell it! So it' to your advantage to make your yard a attractive aa you can. Aa owner of a beauti ful yard, you'll enjoy it as a home-buyer, and appre ciate it aa a home-seller.
