Jan. 6 and lost to the Huskies by a wide margin, 4.1 71.. Head Coach Brent Kggers commented that it was their worst game of the season. The game was one that both teams needed to win to slay in play-off action. Unfortunately it was the Huskies who domin ated the game. "Sherman was fired up and we were flat." Kggers stated. "We lost it in the first quarter being down 18 - 5 at the end of the first. We had no intensity. We also had no offense exec timi at a!!, showing no pa tience at all." be explained. The Huskies shot 61 percent from the field while the Mus tangs only shot 27 percent. The Mustang defense tried to shut down two brothers on the Sherman team. Tod and Mark Coles, who were excel lent players, but they failed, allowing them to earn 20 points and 17 points respec tively. Kggers was not pleased, stating "our own defense was terrible. We needed to stop them (the Coles) from getting inside but we just couldn't and they killed us." Pam Orr takes shot RyU'lN'DI MITCHELL The Heppner Varsity girls played Wasco Co. at Heppner last Friday and lost 26 42. The Heppner Fillies got off to a slow start with a score of 6 - 13. In the second quarter the Redsides pulled away from Heppner bringing tne score to 19 - 11. In the third quarter, Wasco jumped way out in front of the Fillies. With a score of 34 -15. JV Fillies take loss ByWIXDI MITCHELL The Heppner J V. girls' team played the Condon J.V. Girls at Condon last Tuesday, Feb. 1. Condon won by 10 points. 31 - 41. Coach Howe said the game started out slow. The score was 6 - 9. In the second quarter, the Heppner Fillies got their act together but Condon still out scored them. 16 - 12. In the third quarter, the Fillies didn't play up to their poten tial. The score was 20 - 29. . In the fourth quarter Hep pner was doing much better, but Condon was winning with a score of 31 -41. Sports Persons of the Month to--. . i Jodi Padberg Jodi, a sophomore at Hep ner High, is currently playing Guard. She is a good defensive player and currently leads the team in scoring. Jodi has shown a great improvement in her overall play since league started.
