" r David and April Hilton Sykeg, Publisher Spruce up, ; visitors are ' The Morrow County Fair and Rodeo is coming upon us very r soon now, and as usual we will be having many visitors coming to our town for the activities. A local woman who stopped by our office recently, related an incident which should remind us of a responsibility we all should have during this time of the year. She told of sitting in a local cafe and overhearing a conversation between two people from out of town. It seems the visitors felt that Heppner looked a little "unkept." Generally, the town looks pretty good, however, in the rush of summer activities maintenance csn be pushed aside or forgotten. Check around your home or business in the coming week for weeds and scrapes of paper. A good sprucing up will leave a favorable impression on our visitors. Letters To The Editor i A worthwhile investment, a successful project To the editor: I wish to thank the staff and my students from the CETA program for thier two years of service within the community of Heppner. Two years ago solar energy and landscaping of our public swimming pool seemed like a dream that would never come to pass today that dream has become a reality due to the CETA program and the finan cial support we have received from people of our commun ity. Today we are only $7,000 -short of paying all debts incur--red by our project. Perhaps as you read this article you may feel financial ly motivated to help us com plete our financial commit ment by picking up your phone and giving a Lions Club mem ber or myself a call. For some a financial contribution would be of little burden, for others it ShenftVRep The Morrow County sheriffs office handled the following reports and cases during the past week: On August 2, Lester Norman Moen. 55, of Boardman. was arrested by a Boardman police officer for alleged Felony Driving While Revok ed. The arrests followed after a search of the residence and property were conducted with a search coming could be a tough commitment to make. Remember that your donation is tax deductible. Your investment in the Hep pner Swimming Pool is an investment in a worthwhile project for the citizens and the youth in our community. Our cost for oil to heat the pool this summer was under $30, that is not too bad com pared to a $2,300 oil bill for last year's swimming season. The technical and architec tural design of our project and its physical environment ex ceeds similar concepts that have been developed recently in the Northwest. Again I wish to extend my graditude to those of you who had anything to do with our solar energy project over the past two years. Ron Forrar Heppner warrant. Irrigon Police De partment officers assisted Morrow County sheriff's deputies with the search and arrests. Cornish and Mooso were both lodged at the Uma tilla City Jail.
