Competition gels underway at 12:30 p.m. nn Friday and will resume at 12 noon on Saturday. The first and second place finishers at the district meet will automatically qualify for the state class A meet to be held in Portland, May 14-15, , along with anyone who meets a qualifying standard. "We aren't going to blow any chances of qualifying someone for the state meet by trying to win the district meet. The girls and I talked it over last week and the kids decided trying to qualify for the state meet was more important. Besides, we may not have had the depth to win district this year.
