April 23. The records were all run ning events and were broken by four first year tracksters and one veteran. Though they were record breaking times, ironically, not one scored a first place win. Jodi Padberg set the new record in the 3.000 meters with a time of 12.01,5. beating her personal best by :10.5 and earning a second place win. Third place in the 300 meter hurdles was won by Pam Orr with a time of :50.9. Team scores for the boys were: Wahtonka-103. Umatilla -47. Heppner -43. and Dufur-32. High point scorer for the boys' team was Greg Orr with a total of 14 points, followed by Sid Kennedy with 12 points. High point scorer for the girls was Jodi Padberg with 14 points followed by Mary Kincaid with 13 points. April 20 but could not quite defeat the depth of the Eagles, and lost 14-15. Dale Holland, coach for the Heppner Mustangs had this to say about the ball game; "We hit the ball very well and we should have won. but our pitching didn't hold up."
