The Mustangs, now the only Undefeated team of the Colum bia Itasin Conference defeated the Eagles 13-0. last Friday night. Coach .John Sporseen com mented after the game. The Mustangs defeated the Cards 6 15 und 10-15. Scoring for the Cardinals in lhe first game were Liz KlcElligott, 2, Michelle LaRue E, Cindy Hill and Anita Palmer fach with one. 4 The Cardinals were defeat ed 10 15 in the second game. All the while the Eagles couldn't quite get their offense into first gear. When they did get it moving the Mustangs bowling league to begin Nov. 7 children in this age group are also invited to join, said a spokesperson. John Murray led the Mus tangs in rushing with 16 carries for 90 yards, followed by Holland with 16 carries for 78 yards. Earl Hammond also contributed 55 yards on 14 carries. Murray was also in double digits with 10. Holland was 3 for 6 in the passing department with one interception. Bier caught a pass for 12 yards and Cliff Dougherty caught a Holland pass for 11 yards. Dorian Forrar was also at a connecting end of a four yard Holland pass. Heppner is now ranked fourth in the state Class A poll, but may move up due to Scio's loss. Heppner cowboy signed for P J. rodeo The toughest bareback bronc In the nation and several of the toughest cow boys on the professional rodeo circuit will be on hand for the Pacific International Live stock Exposition rodeo when it opens in Portland. October Hi. said a P.I. spokesperson Joe Ruda, Heppner, one of the top bareback riders in the nation, may be one of the riders trying to stay with "Smith and Velvet". Ruda is one of the cowboys signed for the rodeo, he continued. "Smith and Velvet" has won the Bareback Horse of the Year title for two years in a row in voting by the Profes sional Rodeo Cowboys Assoc iation, and is leading in votes Fillies trample lone By CINDI BERGSTROM Heppner Fillies trampled lone on Oct. 1 to bring their win-lose record to 3 and 2. Early in the week the Fillies defeated Riverside on their home court 15-12, 15-8. In the first game against the Cardinals, the Fillies won with ease, 15-6. Sherry Clement was high scorer with six points. Many good plays were made by Sheri McMinn and Michelle Aaron. The second game of the set was a battle, but the Fillies came out ahead 15-10. High server was Dawna Devin with 10 points. Sheri McMinn brought in the other five points to make the Fillies the winning team. On Tuesday. September 29, the Fillies faced the Riverside Pirates. The Fillies defeated Riverside on their home court 15-12 and 15-8. The J.V. and C team girls did not come home with victories. Anne Murray of the Fillies was high scorer with seven points the first game. In the second game, Elizabeth Zita and Anne Murray combined to make the most points. . The Fillies next game is scheduled for Tuesday Oct ober 13 against lone on Iones' home court. The next home game is Saturday, October 17 with Sherman County. for the title this year, accord ing to K.P. Rodeo events will include bareback riding, steer roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, and bull riding. Rodeo events will be Inter spersed with horse show events and special events such as sheep dog trials and calf scrambles.
