special Fair Radea Section - Page t The Queen and her Court welcome you to the 1981 Morrow Co, Fair & Rodeo Presiding over the 1981 Morrow County Fair & Rodeo, and undoubtedly making it more attractive with their presence, are the three beautiful girls chosen an this year's F'air & Rodeo Court. Ql'KKN NANCY MIM.FR. a 5'S", blue-eyed, blonde who hails from l-exington. is no stranger to Fair & Rodo activities. Now ID years old. Nancy was a princess in last year's court, a pennant bearer in 1U7B and '79 and also a pennant liearer for the Hep pner Rodeo. Nancy's sisler, Michelle H""is, who is mar ried and living in I'endleton, was the Fair & Rodeo queen in , I!I7I and princess in 1970 Nancy, who has ridden horses all her life has had "Tien," her sorrel quarter horse, for three years. In addition to her activities as queen and princess for the Fair & Rodeo, Nancy has ttcen involved in 4 H for the past ten years, serving as their report er, vice president, president and secretary. In 4 H Nancy had sewing, livestock and horse projects During school at Heppner High, where she graduated this June. Nancy played varsity basketball and volley ball, was assistant student IhkIv treasurer and treasurer, a member of the dance team, a memlier of the National Honor Society, a member of the dirls' Athletic Booster Club, and a member of the H Club In addition to these many activities. Nancy is a memlier of the Wranglers Hiding Club and one year served as a counselor at the camp held each year at Tupper, which is a short drive from Heppner Nancy is the daughter of Tad and Melba Miller. Resides her sister, Michelle, slit- has a brother Steve. 14. and a brother Mark, 27, who is married and living nearby on the Miller family ranch. Nancy plans tin attending Rlue Mountain "Community College at Pendleton this fall. I'HINCF.SS MT I'M,. Anita's three older sisters also were chosen to preside over Fair & Hodeo events -Barbara (Julierrez, who is married and living in Ilermis lon, was princess in 1975; twins, Donna Kietmann, who is married and living in Condon, and Deborah Palmer, who is married and living in lone, were both princesses in 1977; they also look turns as queen, Donna serving in 197H and Deborah in 1979 Princess Anita, who, like Queen Nancy, has been riding all her life, is now breaking a t 7 i f I V U i V i) J M Z 7 , l ( r m three-year-old colt named 'Dandy.' and will be riding her horse, "Johnny Jo." In addition to her busy schedule on the court. Anita is involved in 4-H sewing and tole painting projects, is a member of the Girls' Athletic Association, a member of the National Honor Society, plays basketball and volleyball and was selected to go to Oregon Business Week at Western Oregon State College at Mon mouth this summer. Anita, who will be a senior at lone High School this (all, plans on attending Oregon State t'mversity at Corvallis to ma jor in business or home economics. Anita is the daughter of Lee and Mary Ann Palmer of lone. Rounding out the 19111 Mor row County Fair & Hodeo Court is another 5'5" blue eyed blonde. PKINCKSS KATHY IIWSFV Seventeen year old Kathy is a relative newcomer to Fair & Rodeo events, riding extensively for the past six years. Kathy is the first in her family to liecome involved in the Fair & Rodeo Court. She has a brother, Hoby . 22, who is married and living in Hep pner, a brother, Don, 25, who is married and living in Kuna, Idaho, and a sister, Sissy Ostalasa, who is also married and living in Kuna. Kathy, who will be a senior at Heppner High School in the fall has had her horse, "Poco," for around four years.
