Page 2 - Special Fair Rodeo Section "k. aIIMII II II I I I PI "j ..!Srt V4t IV1JJ WW You'll find it all at 4-H Horse Show, first event of the fair By BIRDINE TULLIS Whether your interest in N horse events runs to the English or Western, trail classes, comformation, or per haps trying your eye on judging horses, you'll find all these included in the 4-H Horse Show, Saturday, August 22. The first official event of the Morrow County Fair "81 will bring the 4-H Horse club members from all over the county together to show their new skills, as well as compete for a long list of valuable awards and prizes. There's English equitation; it almost seems like jolly old England, as the kids turn out in traditional attire. Then there are jumper classes, "Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences." Later, the same member may be tossing on his-her Western saddle on the horse for a try at the more familiar movements. A special colt ground training class gives members who are training a colt the opportunity to show their skills in horse manship, as they work their colts on the longe line, or a series of other exercises. Events at the 4-H show start early, with members judging horses at 8:30 a.m. Other events of the show begin at 9:30 a.m. under the watchful eye of Judge Elaine Akes. A good place to view the show is from the main grandstand ... come early so you see it all! Pig Scramble back again with lots of squealing, fun 9 15 By BIRDINE TULLIS Back this year by popular demand, the 4-H Pig Scramble will be the first event at the Livestock Auction, Thursday evening, August 27. For many years the 4-H Pig Scramble offered entertain ment for the crowd, as well as the start of a swine project for those lucky enough to catch the squealing young hogs as they race around the arena. Many champions were pro duced in former years as a result of the pig scramble. Those who capture a gilt must agree to raise it as a 4-H project and to provide a gilt for the succeeding year's fair. The pigs will weigh about 60 pounds, and participants may use only their hands in the captiire. Lots of squealing ... lots of fun! 1981 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS OPEN WEEK BEFORE FAIR, AUGUST 17-21 , 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Building hours Building hours k Building hours DURING FAIR.
