Other all-around winners in the rodeo, which concluded Saturday night, were Cindy Stephen. Nampa, Idaho, sen ior girls: Cody Hassler, Walla Walla. Wash.. Junior boys, and Molly McAuliffe. Fort Kla math. Ore., junior girls. Local cowboys fared well in the senior boys division. Don Kindsfather and Cliff Dough erty finished first and second respectively in tie-down calf roping. Dougherty also picked up a second in team roping by combining with another Hep pner cowboy, Brett Sherer. But they were more than 11 seconds slower than the win ning time of John Wagner, Echo, and Scott English, Hermiston, who finished in 10.23 seconds. English tied Micah Lynch, Fairview, Okla., for first In saddle bronc riding. Each had scores of 66. Steagall was third with a 63. Joe Bartlett, Hermiston, easily won the steer wrestling competition with a quick time of 4.29 seconds. Kevin Harris, Pendleton, was second and Sherer placed third. Lee Rice, Heppner, who won the national high school championship in bareback riding last week, had to settle for second place this time behind Steagall. The girls all-around cham pion in the state high school competition this year, Hep pner's Tara Mahoney, was the fastest among the senior girls in breakaway roping with her time of 8.11. Her sister, Trisha, finished second in breakaway roping among the junior girls. In the junior boys division, Leonard Little, Hermiston, edged several others for first place in steer riding and Steve Currin. Heppner. placed second in ribbon dogging.
