The request came from Jim Lankford, who told the council he wished to be able to place a mobile home on a commercial lot in town, not allowed in present zoning rules. The city planning commis sion had earlier given Its ok to the rule change, however, the council sent back the request asking that commercial lots one block east and west of main street be excluded from the proposed rule change. Under the proposed change mobile homes would be allow ed in commercial zones only with a conditional use permit approved by the planning commission. One main area the council was concerned with is Linden Way near the edge of town. The council felt commer cially zoned property along that street was suitable for mobile homes, but felt down town commercial property was not. Under the planning commis sion recommendation sent to the council, mobile homes would have been allowed on any commercial lot in the city. In other business, the coun cil: - sold a four-inch water flow meter no longer needed by the city to Carl Thorpe.
