FOl'RTKRN-The Heppner Gaette-Times. Heppner, Oregon. Thursday. June 18. 1981 BACK-TO-BACK BAREBACK LOT IS. Two riders on one horse bareback, sitting back-to-back. Horses to be worked on rail, and judge may ask for any gait at his discretion. Riders may be asked to change positions without dismounting. To be judged on performance, manners, and riders' ability in keeping their seats. Loss of seat is disqualification. For all ages. PERFORMANCE HORSE CLOVERLEAF BARRELS LOT 16. Timed event. Any horse off course will be disqualified. Knocking any barrel down is a five second penalty per barrel. f - '1 Section 1. Four 50 gallon barrels, (as described in general rules) are set in a square. 50 feet apart. Starting line is 20 feet back from a line running between barrels No. 2 4 4. Section 2. contestant crosses starting line, rides across 8 foot lined center in center of cloverleaf. turns right around No. 1 barrel, across circle to No. 2 barrel, turns No. 2 barrel to left, rides back across center to No. 3. barrel, turns No. 3 barrel to left, rides back across center circle to No. 4 barrel, turns it to the right, rides back across center circle to a line 20 feel from No 1 & No. 3 barrels, then backs horse across a line to feet out from No. I & No. 3 barrels. Horse must touch 20 fool line with front feet, then back until all four feet are on cloverleaf side of the 10 foot line. Time stops when all four feet are back of the 10 foot line. WORKING COW HORSE LOT 17. One animal shall be turned into the arena upon the contestants signal. Exhibitor shall work his horse as directed by judge. Precision, ease and speed with which the judge's instructions are carried out shall be considering in rating entries. No dry work. Appointments and tack same as for reining classes. CHAMPION PERFORMANCE HORSE PREMIUMS: Champion--$25.00 Reserve Chnmpion-SlS.OO LOT 18. In the case of a tie for champion, both names will be placed on the trophy as co-champions and the premium money will be divided equally between the winners. The above will also apply In the event of tic for reserve champion. SPECIAL AWARD Il.O. & DE1.PIIA NELSON Trophy presented to the Champion Performance Horse. Rotating Trophy unless won three year by Ihe same contestant riding the same horse. DEPT. V. COMMERCIAL CROPS -To be eligible for Oregon State Fair entry, all grain. Rrass and hay sheaves must be 4 inches in diameter, cut near ground level, and tied with 3 strings. Smaller sheaves will be accepted at the Morrow Co. Fair. DlVISIOfJ 1 - GRAIN Superintendent : William Rawlln One peck makes the exhibit ; however, a small amount extra should be allowed for cleaning losses. It will be to the exhibitor's advantage to have his exhibits cleaned this year. Superintendent Rawlins will clean exhibits that are in at least one day prior to close of entries.
