Ore gon on Tuesday where they were delegates to the Rehekah Assembly of Oregon. The meeting was presided over by the 1!HU President Vivian Roome. The officers, both elected and appointed, had long gowns of pale blue lace with empire waistline and accordion pleated skirts, with yellow rose corsages, Around the rooms were mementos from subordinate lodges throughout the stale, received at her visitations Some inter esting notes of interest were that there were 707 seals given for the memory work, in the unwritten work. 30 lodges had hvluw changes and five lodges had drill teams, Fifty sisters anil two broth ers received the Reheknh degree on Wednesday morn ing. 555 sisters and 201 brothers were registered for the session this' year, Several very clever skits were presented with the crowing rooster who has been crowing for Oddfellowship for the past ypni Five subordinate lodges pe titioned for their district deputy president with Holly of Lexington receiving the per mission. The presentation was on the order of queen-for-a dny with a robe and lovely tiara, with the words musician presented to the tune of "Mother." Eastern lodge members were hnppy for someone from our area to receive this honor. Several honored guest were present, among them the representative of the Inter national Rebeknhs Assoc.. and the grand warden of Oanada. assembly president of Nev ada, the assembly president and marshal of Washington and several other distinguish ed brothers. The election of officers was held with the following taking office: President Marie Mc Vay of Portland. Vice Pres ident Luella Foster. Warden Euna Maken from Joseph, Ore.. Secretary Joan Blatter. Treasurer Sharon Magnum. Mary Brown. assembly trustee from The Dalles, and Home Board trustee Mnxine Freeman. Virginia Peck of Holly l,odge. appointed Inside guardian, was installed on Thursday evening. Her hus band drove to Springfield on Thursday to act as her escort for the installation and grand march. The In2 session is schedul ed for Rosehurg. in 1U83 in Seaside and in lH4 Oirants Pass. There was much busin ess transacted and the dele gates will be bringing the reports back to their lodges. Lyle Peck and Cecil Jones motored to Springfield on Thursday afternoon for the installation of the Kebekah Assembly officers. While there the men had quite an interesting visit with Mr. Patterson, whose father had at one time had a saw mill in the Willow Creek area of the mountains. Mr. Patterson had at an earlier date contacted the Morrow County Historical Soc, concerning a marker for his grandfather's grave who is buried near the Gurdane Cemetery in Umatilla County. He had heard of the project of MCHS in marking of graves and was interested in the project, thinking it a real worthwlle endeavor of the people of this county. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones motored to Baker on Sunday where they attended the golden wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell of Sumpter, Oregon. After serv ing the lovely refreshments, the guests danced to and were entertained by the music of the eastern Oregon Old Time Fiddler's Assoc. The Joneses then met on Monday Mr. and Mrs. Dewie Lovelace and daughter Peg of Ontario, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lovelace and children of Anchorage, Alaska, at Union and enjoyed a pot luck wiener roast at the Catherine Creek Park before returning home. Enroute they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hudson and Eva Hudson in La Grande. Mr. and Mrs. Orlow Martin of Moro, Ore., were visitors with relatives and friends over the Memorial Day weekend. Holly Rebekah Lodge will meet on Thursday evening at their hall. This is not the regularly scheduled meeting, as it was cancelled from last week due to school activities. Erda Pieper had as house guests over the Memorial Day weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Dick and Trevor and Devonna of Portland and Gary Dick of Newport. They brought Maur ice Groves to his home in Heppner following major sur gery at a hospital in Califor nia. While here Darrell spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Kit George and attended the graduation of Mrs. Dick's niece, Lynn Dee Devin. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Groves of Albany, Mrs. Jeff Mason of Madras, Melba Fish of Se attle, and Mr, and Mrs. Dean Asher and daughter of Baker were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Howard during grad uation activities. Mrs. Fish remained for a longer visit with the Howards, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vocom were visitors at the Forrest Rinehnrt home In Ukinh Monday. Paul Morey and Erda Pie . per were Pendleton callers on Tuesday to consult a phys ician. Visitors to the Carl Mar quardt home on Sunday were 1 Mr, and Mrs. Jim Bloods worth of Pendleton and Mr, and Mrs. Clay Smith and daughter of Albany. Roberta Johnson, a former teacher in Lexington, visited with the Joe Yocoms on, Monday. She Is moving from Milton Freewater to Hermls ton. Pinner guests of Pat Wright and family were: Mr, and Mrs. Whitmer Wright of Woodbum, Mr. and Mrs, Jack Mounts of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mounts and family of Roardman. Mr. and Mrs, Burke O'Brien and children and Freda Majeske of Hepp ner. Julie Wattenhurger and daughters Snndi. Susie, and Julie. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Maleske and the Wright children, Sandi and Mark. The afternoon was spent In visiting and the younger members of the party en joying the animals of Sandi. baby chicks, rabbits and kittens. Uivelle Nelson ( Pieper has been a patient In Corvallis where she recently underwent a knee replacement. Gene Heliker and several members of his band visited at the Cutsforth Cabin over the weekend with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. 0 W. Cutsforth One of the members had the misfortune to fall while cross ing a stream and was taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital where several Stitches were taken in his chin. The group is playing at the present time at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville. Ore. Betty Christman and daugh ter Jean and son Caleh, Gladys VanWinkle and grand son Patrick visited over the holidays in Salem. Gladys visited with a daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bradd.
