During the past 10 years of missionary service. Benin tendi and his wife, Linda, were involved in promoting the International Correspondence Institute in Taiwan. Over l.ooo.ooo students from 7fi countries are enrolled. The Benintendis have been instrumental in getting 10 Bible courses translated into the Chinese language to be used in several countries. Presently, many of these courses are being studied inside China. The Benintendis have had an effective ministry among the 54 churches of Taiwan. They served as director of the work among the mountain Tribal people for two year. The lone boys finished with 55points and came in Sth place out of 11 schools. Margaret Doherty had 28 points for the girls. Denny Starr placed fith in the discus with a throw of 99 feet 3 inches; he also placed 3rd in the javelin with a throw of 134 feet 5" a inches. Shawn LaRue placed 2nd in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet 8 inches : LaRue also placed 3rd in the 110 meeter high hurdles with a time of 19.0. Any Dress the Store o rr Most recently they helped to co-ordinate many ministries at the New Assemblies of God Center in downtown Taipei. Taiwan. Just prior to returning to the states, the Benintendis had a rare opportunity to return to the cities of China where they had been as children. They are anxious to share their exper iences from these visits into China. Mr. and Mrs. Benintendi will be relating more about their ministry to the Chinese during this special missions service. The public is invited to attend. Gregfl Rietmann finished 1st in the 100 metter run with a time of 11.5. and finished 2nd in the 200 meters crossing the finish line in 23.3. Jim McCabe finished 4th in the 400 meters with a time of 55.5. The 440-yard relay consis ting of Howard Leavitt. Jim McCabe. Craig Hams and Gregg Rietmann finished 2nd with a time of 47.7. The mile relay team consisting of the same people came in 4th with a time of 3:57 n Margaret Doherty finished 2nd in the long jump of 14 feet 4'a inches, she also took 1st in the 200 with a time of 27.8 and 1st in the 400 with a time of 1 :03.9. Don Barber's and Dave Allstott's team posted wins and stayed in the championship race In Hep pner men's city league basket ball playoffs Sunday night. Barber's team eliminated Forest Service. Heppner band students plan "Bowl-a-thon fund-raiser Heppner High School band director Don Boyce has an nounced a Bowl-a thon April 26 as a fund-raising project for a Seaside trip for bond students. The Bowl a-thon will be held at the Heppner Bowling Alley at 2 pm. Band students are now in the process of getting sponsors for the event.
