Linda, third, and Ken. fourth. "I think our kids did pretty well." commented Swanson. Around 100 kids participated in the district competition at Hermiston. Lowe, deputy super visor of the Willamette National Forest, Eugene, has been selected supervisor of the Umatilla Na'ional Forest, Pendleton, according to regional forester, R.E. Worth ington. USD A Forest Service. Lowe suceeds Herbert B. Rudolph who retired Decem ber 29. Effective date for Lowe to take the new position is March , 8. Worthington said. Lowe, 43, has been in his present job since September 1977. Before that he served on the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire, as a Job corps director on the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois, in the Eastern Region al Office of the Forest Service, Milwaukee, and on the Mark Twain National Forest. He started his Forest Service career on the Mark Twain Forest in 1963 after working for the University of Missouri, 1959-60, and in private indus try. 1960-62. He is a 1959 graduate in forestry from Louisiana State University and received a master's degree from the University of Missouri in 1965. 'Bring and Brag9 at CWC meeting Tuesday The Christian Women's Club will meet at the Degree of Honor lodge Tuesdav. Feb. 3, at 6:45 p m A salad bar at a cost of $3.25 will be catered by the Carnation Club. The theme of the meeting is "Bring and Brag." A special feature is local hobbies. The contest .is in its seventh year, bnl this year the contest was charged to meet new needs and conking habits of Orepon homes. All recipes for (his rook -off must be prepared in a microwave oven. Recipe Rules Cuts from the chuck round, rump, or fresh brisket, including ground beef must be used. A minimum of two pounds and maximum of five pounds of beef must be used. The meat must be exclusively beef. Total cooking time cannot exceed l'i hours, except marinating time. No commercial tender izers are allowed. All entries will be judged on taste, appearance, origina lity and ease of preparation. Decision of the judges is final.
