November 20, 1980 amp. mrm aw., (Lexington J I news Delpha Jones J Holly Rebekah Lodge met on Thursday for their regular meeting with Virginia Peck in the chair. Election of officers was the main business of the evening with the following elected: noble grand, Joyce Buchanan, vice-grand, Gladys Van Winkle, secretary, Del pha Jones, and treasurer, Dorothy Burcham. Past Noble Grand Virginia Peck was elected as the three-year trustee. The noble grand announced that the group is having sewing and work days to get things prepared for the Arti factory in Heppner. The drill captain said that San Souci Lodge had invited Holly Lodge to put on the initiatory work at their lodge in December and the Holly girls are getting ready to practice this coming week. The unwritten work was practiced. Lovely refreshments were served following the meeting. Three Links Club met at the home of Catie Padberg on Thursday for their regular meeting with chairman Dor othy Burcham. Plans were further discussed for he Artifactory, and it was decid ed the group would cook and serve the Farm City Banquet in Heppner. A committee to plan the dinner was appointed. The ladies signed cards to be sent to shut-in members. Those attending were: Leila Palmer, Ruth Robinson, Virginia Peck, Josie Peck, Delpha Jones, Venice Hend- -rickson, Dorothy Burcham and the hostess, Catie Pad . berg. The door prize was won by Josie Peck. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Gladys VanWinkle, Leora Kane and son, Patrick, have recently visited with Mrs. VanWinkle's daughter and family , Mr, and .Mrs. Tom Bradd in Ontario. Earl Miller has rented the Florence McMillan house and has moved there. Mrs. McMil lan is now a resident of the Good Samaritan Center nurs ing home in Hermiston. John Spence, a brother of Mrs. McMillan, is also a resident of the Good Samaritan retire ment home. Lexington Grange met on Monday evening for the regu lar meeting with the master, Barbara Cutsforth, in the chair. Interesting committee reports were heard. Agricul ture committee chairman. Ken Smouse, talked on the use of chemicals to hold down growth and improve tillage conditions and the coming Wheat League meeting in Dec. The legislative chairman, O. W. Cutsforth, talked about the Ditch Creek and Smith Falls preseivation, and the com mittee that has been appoint ed to present a plan to the users of Willow Creek waters concerning this. An election of officers was then held with the following results: master, Delpha Jones; overseer, Lyle Peck; lecturer, Barbara Cutsforth; steward, Earl Papineau; assistant steward, Kenneth Smouse; chaplain, Marie Steagall; treasurer, Cecil Jones; secretary, Jean Nel son; gatekeeper, Glover Peck; Ceres, Rena Mar quardt; Pomona, Virginia Peck; Flora, Venice Hen drickson; lady assistant, Frances Smouse; musician, Doug Marquardt; executive committee, Lyle Peck, Nor man Nelson, and O.W. Cuts forth. There was some discussion on tne Pomona resolution concerning the enlargement of the Bonneville Dam Locks and the group went in favor of the resolution. Plans were made for a Christmas jmrty to be held at the nursing home jn Heppner, with gifts provided for the residents.
