An adult hour at the Heppner Swimming Pool will be held Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 11 ajn., swimming Instructor Scott McEwen has announced. The adult hour will be for laps only. The Thursday adult night has been cancelled, McEwen said. The Heppner Swim team sent 20 swimmers to the swim meet hosted by Pendleton last weekend. The meet was at tended by 550 swimmers' in all from Heppner, Pendleton, LaGrande, The Dalles, Hood River, Kamlah, Bend, Her mittUm, Vale, Lewiaton-Clark-ston. and Canby. Duane Ball, swimming in the 9-10 year old boys cate gory, took 4th place in the 50 m. Backstroke with a score of 49.59. He look 6th place in the 50 m. Freestyle and 6th place in the 200 m. IM. In the 200 m. IM. Hld took 7t Andre Bad. In the lf-12 year old girls divisiontook 10th place In the 50 m. Butterfly. Shelly Biddle took two 10th. one m the 50 m. Breast roke. and one in the 200 m. IM. ' Cam George, swimming for the 13-14 year old boys, won 5th place in the 100 m. Breastroke. and took 10th in the 100 m. Butterfly. Cam also won another 10th place ribbon, but the event and time were unavailable. The 11-12 year old girls free relay team, composed of Shelly Biddle. Andrea Ball, Beth Forrar and Heidi Sam ples, took 6th place. Campfire camp dates changed Dates for the 1980 Campfire Day Camp have been changed, it was announced this week. The day camp, originally scheduled for July 28. 29. 30. will now be held on July 29. 30 and 31. The camp will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds on July 29 and 30. On July 31 campers will go to Cutsforth Park for a picnic. The fee is $8 for members and $9 for non-members. Anyone still interested In registering may contact Irene Plocharsky at 676-5594. Cowbell es host Barbecue," fete The Morrow County Cow belles held a "Board Branding Barbecue" on Saturday, July 19. at 6:30 p.m. at the Jim and Carlene West Ranch at lower Rhea Creek. y' Approximately 50 people gathered for good food, danc ing and conversation in the huge West barn. "Haybale" tables and benches with sad dle blanket cushions were arranged throughout the loft in full view of Rhea Creek's sunset. ji. A board was branded with Morrow County brands for the Cowbelle State Fair booth. All counties contribute boards, wmcn win oe assembled into a free standing display for later use in malls, beef demonstra tions, etc. Carlene West and Claudia Hughes co-chaired the event, with help from Ruth Nutting and Becky Evans. Great burgers on the grill were prepared by Shirley Rugg and Darrel Dooney. Music was provided by Ron Davis, Bill Wise, Bill West, and Herkinson of Arlington. Cowbelle Chairwoman Claudia Hughes says that we'll "be seeing more of the Cowbelles at the Sidewalk Sale."
