The element may be cleaned with low pressure air blowing from the inside of the filter. Always follow the manufacturer's recommen dations for cleaning the filter element. Always check filter elements using a light on the inside to make sure there are no holes or tears in the paper. Inspect the contact surfaces of the element and the air cleaner body. Replace dam aged or worn gaskets. Re move any dust or ash ac cumulation from the inside of the air cleaner body using a damp cloth. Reinstall the element and make sure that gaskets are properly seated, and that all of the air cleaner system connections are dust tight. Furnace duct tape may be helpful in achieving dust tight conditions. Never operate the engine without an air filter element. Engine lubHcation system: Depending upon field condi tions, it may become neces sary to reduce engine oil and filter change intervals to one half to one third those recom mended by the manufacturer for normal operation. Some of the small ash and dust particles which passed through the air cleaning system become contaminated with ron diameter and must be changed. Engine oil filters are normally not effective in removing particles smaller than about 25 microns. Radiators and oil coolers: Ash accumulations on radia tors and oil coolers will reduce heat transfer rates and lead to engine overheating and ex cessive heat build up in the hydraulic system unless removed. First week: second spray of filbert trees for filbert worm. Plant poppies and peonies. Western Oregon: fertilize roses . High elevations. Central and Eastern Oregon: fertilize lawn for last time this year. Spray walnut trees for walnut husk fly and repeat in 3 weeks. Spray for root weevils in ornamental shrubs and flow ers Spray filbert trees for bac terial blight. Spray for codling moth and spider mite in apple trees. Spray walnuts if maggots in husks have been noted in previous years. Spray for scale insects in camellias, holly. mapis. Fall webworm webbing apix'itrs in ornamentals and sh;irle trees. Spray with diaz inon. Dipel or Orthene Control fleas in lawns with spray containing ronnel. Begin preparations for planting new lawn. Fertilize cucumbers, sum mer squash, broccoli while harvesting to maintain pro duction. Clean and fertilize straw -berry beds. Control caterpillars on leafy veu'tables. as needed, with Dipel. rotenone. or Sevin. For mile control on orna mentals and most vegetables. iiM- Kelthane as directed on the label.
