He was placed in a preschool for multihandicapped children where it was determined that he was not retarded. He progressed to such an extent that he was enrolled in a . regular classroom program and is doing very well in " whool . "Found: In Klamath County, an 18-month-old child who because of a birth defect had very poor hearing and no speech. He is now receiving speech therapy and to the delight of his parents, is learning to talk. These two children are now getting the help they need, but there are still many children in Oregon who have special problems and whose educa tional needs are not being met. They are pre-schoolers who are not developing the way they should be; they are school -age children, sitting in classrooms unable to learn; they are teenagers who drop ped out of school in frustration and anger at their inability to succeed. They are all child ren, birth to 21 years of age, who cannot succeed in school because of a physical, mental, emotional or learning problem which is interfering with their education. School districts around the state are extrem ely concerned about these children, but they can do, nothing to help them until they are found. Child Find, a State Depart ment of Education project, is helping school districts find these children. "Parents with handicapped children often don't know where to turn for help." said Mary Anne Stow ell. State Director of Child Find. "Because of this, their children's educational needs often go unmet." Parents or guardians who believe their child may have physical, mental, emotional or learning problems may call the project's toll-free number in Portland for additional information. The number is Obituaries Mildred Davidson Mildred Louise Davidson died at her home in Boardman on Monday, June 16, at the age of 57. She was born Oct. 14, 1922, at Alexandria, La. She and her husband were longtime resi dents of Lexington. For the past year they had lived at Boardman. She was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church of Heppner and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Robert H. Davidson of Board man; three sons, Robert H. Davidson, Jr., Milwaukie, Ore., Herbert Davidson, Boardman, and Gregory Davidson, Seattle; three daughters, Dora Sue Viall, Boardman; Beverly Flint, Beaverton, and Anita Louise Davidson , Seattle ; one sister Betty Young of Glide, Ore., and six grandchildren. Rosary services were to be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. A funeral Mass was scheduled today (Thurs- Roman Catholic Church in Heppner, with burial following at the Lexington Cemetery. Arrangements were in care of Burns Mortuary, Hermis ton.
