The Morrow County Fair will again be holding the Women's Nail Driving Contest at the picnic grounds begin ning at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 19. Gary Grieb, the event's chairman, said last year it attracted 32 women nail drivers, the first time it was held. The woman who won the contest drove a nail in a 6 by 6 ft. board stretched over two sawhorses with six swings compared to the average of 30 or 40. Entries are advised to practice their swinging with regular claw hammers. The event was staged on the spur of the moment, Grieb said, when an event was found to be needed. Women entering the contest will be furnished with ham mers. Grieb says the number of swings are counted rather than the speed in which it takes to drive the nail. There are other fun events slated during the fair. Follow ing the women's nail driving exhibition is the Kid's Coin Hunt at the Little League Field. Youngsters will be diving in sawdust to make their fortunes and at 7 p.m. the same night is the 4-H Public Style Show.
