Page 12 Special Fair & Rodeo Section w ranglers 4-H horse show this Sunday More events have been added to the all day Saddle Horse Show organized by the Wranglers Riding Club and slated to begin at 9 a.m., Sunday, August 19, according to Merlyn Robinson. Entries will compete in 18 events. One of the new events this year is the jackpot potatoi race with a $1 entry fee and no premiums. Each contestant will ride a horse from the starting line to where the potatoes are placed, dismount and select one marked potato and return to the starting line. The event will be run at the same time as the performance horse trail class. Bareback equitation is another new event. Rids Will be judged on the hands and seat and suitability of the horse to the rider. Horses will be worked both ways of the ring a walk, trot and canter. The entry deadline was 8 p.m., August 13. To be eligible to enter, all horses and exhibitors must be Morrow County residents and animals must have been owned and kept in Morrow County at least 60 days prior to time of entry. First, second, third and fourth place premiums will be awarded in the respective amounts of $5, $4, $3 and $2. Entries will be competing in stock seat equitation, with judging based on seat, hands, performance of the horse and suitability of the horse to the rider; Western pleasure, to be shown at a walk, jog, trot and lope and judged on perform ance and manners, stock seat, performance horse trail class with riders competing on an obstacle course, reining class es, back to back bareback, working cow horse, jackpot barrels and polebending, English pleasure, with judg ing for manners, quality and performance and the limit working hunter. A special trophy, donated by D.O. and Delpha Nelson, will be presented to the Champion Perfomance Horse from points derived from the all day series of events.
