Doherty -Russell vows heard in Eugene ceremony June 9 Marsha Lovgren engaged Susan Doherty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Doh erty, Irrigon and Donald Russell, Eugene, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Russell, Board man were wed June 9 in an afternoon ceremony at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Father Brian McKenna of ficiated. The bride, wearing an organza wedding dress with lace flowers and pearl appli ques and carrying a cascade of abbey roses on the groom's grandmother's communion book was given away in marriage by her father, Mat thew Doherty. Maid of honor was Kathy Doherty, the bride's sister and bridesmaids were Joan Doh erty, the bride's cousin, Brenda Walter and Lorie Russell, the groom's sister. The best man was Bruce Russell, the groom's brother and ushers were Jim Eggert, Dale Baker, Jerry Donovan and Jeff Brandt. Serving as alter boys were Robert and Don Doherty, the bride's cousins. Following the wedding, a reception was held at the parish hall in Hermiston. Pouring were Edna Itil and i V .r L- Lillian Lay, the bride's aunts and serving punch were Anna Brandon and Helen McLaugh lin, the bride's aunts. The newlyweds left for a honeymoon at the Kahneetah Resort, Warm Springs, Ore gon and will reside in Mil waukie. The bride, an OSU graduate, is employed by Kash's Nur sery, Milwaukie and the groom, also an OSU graduate, is employed by Georgia Pacif ic in Portland. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Shannon of New Canaan, Connecticut. After her high school grad uation, Marsha pursued busi ness studies in Kansas City. She soon became an employee of the United States Depart ment of State in Washington, D.C. After six years there she was transferred to the Ameri can Embassy in London where she has worked as a secretary for the past four years. During work breaks, she has traveled extensively around Europe and in the Middle East. She met Bill Shannon while he was a U.S. Marine Guard stationed at the em bassy in London. He grad uated from high school at New Canaan and now preparing for a new career as a commercial pilot. The Lovgren-Shannon wed ding will take place in the garden of St. Mark's Episco pal Church in New Canaan. Marsha arrived in Heppner on June 22 and will be visiting with her family and friends 1 .,.... "Ai M The lone United Church of Christ will have a new minister at its services Sun day, July 22. Catherine Barker, a Yale divinity graduate, will be ordained July 8 in Butte, Montana and conduct her first services July 22. She will assume the duties formerly handled by Dr. Neal Chobot. A coffee hour is scheduled in Dr. Chobot's honor at 10:30 a.m. July 8 at the church basement, according to Dor othy Krebs. The public is invited. P' -"..
