J 'I i TWELVE The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday February 22, 1979 BMCC spring evening classes announced registration to start next week PUBLIC NOTICE PUBLIC. NOTICE The schedule for the Blue Mountain Community College Evening Division's spring term is now ready for publica tion. Pre-registration will be gin next week as every boxholder and those on rural routes will be receiving the Blue Mountain Community College flyer with day and evening schedules listed. Two of the classes being offered will carry transfer credit : Seminar Humanities Film This is a course taught by Grey Elliot, who teaches at the college. The films that will be shown and discussed will be published at a later date. This course carries 3 English credits. American Government, National Government Politics This course carries three Political Science cred its, and will be taught by Don Allen from the college. This is the first of a three-quarter sequence of courses dealing with an examination of the process by which public policy decisions are made (politics), the enviroment in which political choice takes place, and the role of governmental elites in this process. The cost of each of these courses is $27, plus cost of texts as required by the instructor. The other courses being offered through the Evening Division are: Field Bird Identification Taught by Steve Brownfield. This course is designed to instruct the students in the use of field bird books so that they will be able to identify birds using the books. There will be a field trip to Malheur National Game Refuge. Tennis Beginning instruc tion in the principles of tennis. This course is being taurht by Sheri Brock. The course will be divided into two sections: A, 5-6 p.m. and B, 6 to 7 p.m. Tole Painting A six week course for advanced tole painters. The course will be taught by Phyllis Piper and Eileen Padberg. Principles of jogging A ten-hour course designed to get information to the person interested in beginning a jogging program. Specific individualized information will be available. The course will be taught by Duane Neiffer. Auto Mechanics for Women A short course offer ing instruction to women on basic auto care. This will be done in labs using students' cars. Dale Vance is the instructor for this course. Expectant Parents An eight-week course for expect ant parents with Lamaze instruction. Taught by Chris Adlemen, R.N. Drawing-Painting Six week course with instruction on basics of drawing and painting. Course to be taught Federal Crop Insurance seeks comments The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC), an agency of the U.S. Depart ment of Agriculture, is cur rently seeking public com ment on its proposed regula tions for insuring wheat in Oregon and Washington ef fective with the 1980 crop year. Executive Order No. 12044, issued by President Jimmy Carter on March 23, 1978, directs all executive agencies to actively seek public partici pation in improving existing and future regulations. Members of the general public may obtain copies of the proposed wheat regulation from the local FCIC office, located at 1229 S.E. 3rd, Pendleton, 97801. The deadline for submitting written comments on these proposed regulations is Feb. 22. Italic Calligraphy, Begin ningCourse teaching the italic style of calligraphy. Ann Toney will instruct the course. Golf Beginning instruction in the sport of golf taught by John Edmundson. There will be two sessions: A -8: 30-11 a.m.; B-ll a.m. -1:30 p.m. Classes are on Saturday mornings. Batik Workshop This course is set up with work shops on two consecutjve Saturdays, March 31 and April 7. Registration includes both Saturdays. A project will be completed using Batik, under the direction of Jamalee Curnutt, local artist.
