EIGHT The Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday, December 22, 1977- Flood hazard study underway iVAVAi iii Ti ki : mm Detailed studies of flood hazard areas in Morrow County, and in the communi ties of Heppner, Lexington and lone, is now underway by the Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers and funded by the. Federal Insurance Admi nistration under the authority of the National Flood Insur ance Act of 1968 and the Flood Protection Act of 1973. The purpose of each study is to examine and evaluate the flood hazard areas which are developed or likely to be developed and to determine flood elevation for those areas. The studies will be used by each community to determine flood plain zoning ordinances and to carry out flood plain management objectives of the National Flood Insurance Pro gram. They will also be used as a basis for determining appropriate insurance pre mium rates for buildings and their contents in the communi ties. Preliminary work has al ready begun with hydraulic engineers from Walla Walla doing a field review to determine where cross sec tions should be taken. The studips should be completed by April, 1979. Local organizations install new officers Preceded by a social hour and banquet at the Wagon Wheel Cafe, a joint installa tion of the officers of Heppner Lodge No. 69 AF&AM, lone Lodge No. 120 AF&AM, and Heppner Chapter No. 26 R.A.M. was held at the Heppner Lodge Hall Tuesday, Dec. 13. Officers for the coming year in Heppner Lodge No. 69 AF&AM are Worshipful Mas ter Ron Borst, Senior Warden Dave Harrison, Junior War den Cecil Rill, Treasurer Howard Bryant, Secretary Don Gilliam, Senior Deacon Kenneth Wright, Junior Dea con Millard Nolan, Senior .Steward Hubert Wilson, Jun ior Steward Robert Kelly, Marshal Herman Winter, Ty ler Dick Wilkinson, and Chap lain Marion Hayden. John Wood was Installing Officer, Gene Rietmann Installing Marshal, and Marion Hayden Installing Chaplain. New officers for 1978 in lone Lodge No. 120 AF&AM are Worshipful Master Berl Akers, Senior Warden Lewis Halvorsen, Junior Warden Kenneth Smouse, Treasurer Roy Lindstrom, Secretary Leo Crabtree, Senior Deacon Herb Ekstrom Sr., Junior Deacon Herb Ekstrom Jr., Senior Steward Paul Pettyjohn, Jun ior Steward Charles O'Conner, Marshal Gene Rietmann, Ty ler Gene Lancaster, and Chaplain Oscar Peterson. Officers for the coming year in Heppner Chapter , No. 26 R.A.M. are Excellent High Priest Harold Becket, King Claude Granham, Scribe Ken neth Smouse, Treasurer How ard Bryant, Secretary Paul Jones, Captain of the Host John Wood, Principal Sojour ner Kenneth Walters, Royal Arch Captain Marion Hayden, Master of the Third Veil Millard Nolan, Master of the Second Veil Lewis Halvorsen, Master of the First Veil Don Gilliam, and Sentinel Leo Crabtree.
