Hit Lutherans plan Christmas programs Both of the Lutheran churches in South Morrow County will be having their Christmas programs on Sun day, Dec. 19. Hope Lutheran Church will be having their program at 4:30 in the afternoon, with all of the Sunday School people as well as the children's choir, the adult choir, and the men's quartette being involved. Af ter the program, there will be a dinner for all of the mem bers and friends of the con gregation who have gathered Bishop to visit The Rt. Rev. William Spof ford, Bishop of Eastern Ore gon, will make a visitation to All Saints' Episcopal Church, Heppner, Dec. 18-20. On Sunday morning, he will administer the sacrament of Holy Confirmation, receive reaffirmations of faith and preach during the Eucharistic celebration at 10:30 a.m. Following the service, a dinner will be held in the parish hall of the church in his honor and also for the newly confirmed. The young people fn he confirmed are tnns Rietmann and John Murray of lone and Brian Thompson of Heppner. On Monday morning at 8 a.m., the bishop will have breakfast with the clergy of the South Morrow County Ministerial Association and at 9:30 will celebrate Holy Com munion as the start of an Advent Quiet Morning to which all members of the parish and the community at large are invited and urged to attend. The morning of prayer and meditation led by the bishop will come to a close at about 11:30 a.m. for the program. Valby Lutheran Church is adding a different emphasis to their program this year. Instead of having their pro gram at the church where only members and friends of the congregation can see it, they will be taking their Christmas program up to the nursing home at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner so that the people who are unable to get out and see a Christmas program will have one brought to them. This program will be given at 7 p.m. in the evening. After the program, the members of Valby will be going over to the home of Pastor and Mrs. Mark Johnson, where they will be having some "Swedish" refreshments. Church notes Perrins move Methodist special services Late last May, Lloyd and Jana Perrin moved to Hep pner to assuir.f the pastorship of the Seventh-day Adventist Church here. At that time, it was mentioned in this paper that they hoped to be able to rent a house in the country where they could keep a horse. Finding a home for them was one thing, but finding one that could accommodate a horse offered a real challenge. However, perseverance and patience have won. In the six months they have been here, the Perrins have made their presence felt in the community. Especially so in their church, which, inspired by their youthful enthusiasm and dedication, has begun to grow and take on new vitality. Lloyd and Jana are de lighted with their ranch-style living, and hope their friends from the community will drop by for a visit. With them, "friends" includes the entire community, for they know no strangers. If not a visit in person, the next-best would be a telephone call. Their new number is 989-8527. oEKasaaeaai During the week of Christ mas, there will be two special services at the Heppner Unit ed Methodist Church. Sunday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m., there will be the annual Christmas program featuring carol singing, special number by the child ren's choir and a skit by the Senior High Youth Group. The Three Wisemen will hand out gifts. All the families Witnesses plan special activities The Lexinaton conereeation of Jehovah's Witnesses will host a special week of activi ties. Part of the activities will be an effort to call on all persons in Morrow County to invite them to a special talk that will be given by Don Auvinen. He will work with the local witnesses on the use of the Bible in their ministry. Au vinen will conclude Sunday, Dec. 26, at 10 a.m., with talk entitled "What Kind of Name are You Making with God?" at the local Kingdom Hall, 320 West F St., Lexington, Ore. All interested persons are invited. No collections are taken. of the community are invited to this service. On Thursday evening, Dec. 23, at 8 p.m., there will be a service of worship. This will be a time to come and to thank God for the gift of His Son. Pastor Tollefson will be bringing the message and the recently reformed adult choir will sing two special ar rangements. Nursery care will be pro vided for this service, as It Is provided for all regular morn ing worship services at the church. Again, all families are Invited.
