With the increase of $?8,747.26 In the Measure 8 sets increase total estimated apportionment will jump to $312,412.60 with the Increased revenue from the one cent gas tax and the 26 per cent increase to trucks and buses on the weight-mile tax. In Heppner, the estimated Increase will be $7,090.79; in Boardman, $3,080.06; in lone, $1,794.86; in Irrigon, $1,639.75; If ballot measure 8, the gas tax, passes, Morrow County's estimated apportionment will be $44,056.02. Methodist Church 100th anniversary held here People came from Gooding, ID, Vancouver, WA, the Port land area, Salem, Milton Freewater, Pendleton, and Arlington to join in the 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Heppner United Methodist Church last weekend. Several groups from other Heppner churches also joined in the festivities. More than 100 partook of the potluck dinner on Saturday . night. Pastor Tollefson intro-, duced the visiting clergymen ' ' and other guests. Rev. Mel Dixon and his wife Nancy, who served the Heppner church from 1962 into 1969, presented a vocal duet. There was group singing, too, with Pauline Mil ler, the church organist, ac companying the singers on the piano. I Bishop Jack M. Tuell told about his recent trip to Ire land. His informal remarks were amusing, timely, inter esting and inspirational. Rev. Grace Drake, whose birthday fell that day, was After the worship service, further visiting took place cheered. Mrs. Herman Green super vised the serving of the dinner assisted by her daughter Margaret, her daughter-in-law, a niece and many of the church ladies. Barbara James decorated the tables and Fay Pierce planned the program. The Centennial Worship Program on Sunday morning was written by the minister, ' Steve Tollefson, who led the congregation in the responsive selections and opened and closed the service. Bishop Tuell 's sermon, en titled "Now Thank We All Our God" dealt with the past, present and future of the world church. Mike Howell was liturgist and Pauline Miller offered several special organ selections, "Adagio in D" and "Praise Ye The Triune God." Tom James was candle lighter. arranged by Mrs. Kenneth Batty and Mrs. Howard Bry ant in the dining room. On both Saturday and Sun day! many enjoyed the exhibit arranged by Louise Moyer Wood and others. Especially interesting were displays from the Alec and Mattie Green family and the old Bible and album of pictures loaned by the descendants of Albert Wright. Several men and women wore remarkable historic clothing for the weekend events. Frances Mitchell came in a 50-year-old dress and Ella Smith and Louise Wood wore dresses much older than that, which they had preserved. Herman Green wore a very fancy vest.
