We have had a very busy schedule and it has been a wonderful lear ning experience for me. We five girls have had a very close association throughout the summer. Each girl has always been congenial and hel pful and has always been there when I need ed them. One of my highlights during this summer has been the smiles on the faces of the very young and very old during pa rades 1 have been In volved In. Well this summer has been a real experience I would never have pass ed up, It was fun and very busy. And busy means at Arlington and Spray in the month of Morrow County's last Rodeo Cowboy Association gold card holder will be watching the RCA cowboys battling It out this year for top honor at the Morrow County Fair and Rodeo. I am proud of our county and I am glad to have had the opportunity to represent it and hope fully I have helped to create good will. May.Those were fun with parades and run Ins. I am very honored and pleased to be able to promote Morrow Coun llermiston and ty Fair and vans w cowboys who have been mem bers of the RCA for at least ten years, calls Evans a "life member" in the Rodeo Cow boys Association. Evans' time with the pro fessional cowboya goes back farther than the necessary ten years. He started in the pro circuit back in 1938 and has held his card for It yeara. It has helped me a great deal in learning to be a better "me." As a Court mem ber you must learn to get along with other people no matter what the situation, good or bad. As a professional wrangler, Evans said he "made a pretty good living for a few years." He frequented Northwest ro deos and had a stint one time in California events. Evans was bronc rider by trade, but also ventured into bareback riding, bulldogging and "little roping." Calling himself "retired cowboy" now, Evana said his best rodeos were In Toppcn ish, Mollala and St. Paul near Thursday. August 19, 17. Page IS had. I enjoyed traveling to parades, rodeos and many places I had never seen. The chance to meet and make new friends has given me an awareness of the kind ness and hospitality shown by rodeo groups. Getting myself and my horse to an appearance on time has been the most worry and head ache all summer. 1 have really enjoyed the fri endship, the working to gether and the fun of the other members of the court and chaperones. I have come to realize that without the pati ence and help of my parents, this summer might not have been at all possible. It's been an honor and a privilege to represent Morrow County this summer. much to me and will always be held close as fond memories. Schiller Newberg. Evana, living his 20th year in Heppner this year, said he doesn't know too many of the RCA face anymore. He mentioned Larry Mahan and Bob and A.J. Swain but added that "most of the old timers like me have all quit."
