CJf -&- By Dorothy Zita and Justin Weatherford Last week it was mentioned that over $1500 has been allocated for the dinner to be served by Jim at the Fair Pavilion on July 4. Volunteers are needed to help serve. Please contact Jim Rogers at 676-5551. All proceeds are going to the Bi-Centennial Committee. The Golden Age Club will not hold its potluck dinner this month, due to the Fourth of July holidays. Sara Adkins wants to remind the members that the potluck and dinner will be held In August at the Elks Lodge on the first Tuesday of the month. Kal Healy has returned from Portland where she has been visiting her daughter and son-in-law. Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Rich. Bill Weatherford is beginning to panic; the schoolhouse needs a second coat of paint before the dedication. Told him Thursday after 3 p.m. I'd show up to paint. Maybe some others will show up too before then. ( Winner of the Magic Lady Wardrobe at the Lebush Shoppe was Lenna Smith. . Amanda Duvall arrived home Wednesday from Portland, where she has been undergoing medical treatment for a fractured hip. WE HEAR: That Charles Starks is in the Pendleton Community Hospital recovering from surgery. That Laurie McCabe has been moved from Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA to the Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon at 2010 N.W. Kearny, Portland for therapy. That Juanita Carmichael is coming home this week from Portland where she underwent open heart surgery. ' That Edda Mae Lovgren of South Court Street is not feeling well is undergoing medical treatments. That Jane Rawlins is busily commuting between home here and T.V. classes at O.S.U. in Corvallis. That frost nipped some of the garden stuff out on the Rawlins Ranch on Rhea Creek last weekend when we thought it was so very warm here in town. , That Millie Hanna Connor has turned schoolhouse drapery maker and is busily stitching up appropriate curtains for the little schoolhouse in the park. ! t ' - ; ; r -A The Tollefsons. Steve, Ben 2, Greg 4, and Vicki Methodist minister arrives Last Wednesday, the Tollefsons began their life in Heppner where Steve has been appointed minister of the United Methodist Church. They are already saying, "This is a nice, friendly town." Steve delivered his first sermon last Sunday morning, then presided at the afternoon worship service at the Pioneer Memorial Hospital and met with the South Morrow County Ministerial Association Sunday even ing. Rev. Tollefson is a recent graduate from St. Paul's School of Theology in Kansas City, MO. During his three years in seminary he served four rural churches. Steve grew up in Nampa, ID, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Tollefson reside. He is a political science graduate of the University of Idaho. After graduation he was an intelligence officer in the U.S. Army and served in T Vietnam for one year. He worked for three I years as sales manager for a motor home and I mobile home company in Nampa before I entering St. Paul's Seminary. Mrs. Tollefson was formerly Vicki Shaw. She grew up in Gooding, ID, where her parents Judge and Mrs. Charles Shaw reside. She and Steve met at the University of Idaho where she was graduated in secondary education. She said she would like to do tutoring in mathmematics here. For readers who enjoy figures, Steve is now 30, Vicki is 28 and their sons Ben and Greg are 2 and 4-y ears-old. Steve and Vicki are outdoorsy, active folks. They both enjoy playing tennis. He likes fishing, jogging and reading and has played basketball. She favors skiing and homemaking and is eager to be preserving foodstuffs for the family. They have belonged to various organiza tions where they have lived previously and seem like fine prospective participants in Heppner activity groups. The Tollefsons have hurried to get settled in the Church St. Methodist parsonage as they are having family guests over July 4. Steve's parents and his brother and family are coming. Evans Bergstrom united Michele Ann Evans became the bride of Michael Jay Bergstrom on Sunday, June 20. The 4 p.m. ceremony was read by the Rev. Mark Johnson at Hope Lutheran Church, Heppner. Parents of the bride are Mr, and Mrs. Donald K. Evans, Heppner. The groom's parents are Mrs. Randall Peterson and Mr. Robert Bergstrom. The bride given in marriage by her family, wore a white organza and Venice lace gown fashioned with fitted bodice and long sleeves. The gown was embroidered with an overlap scalloped Venice lace and seed pearls ending in a cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of white daisies and yellow mums with baby's breath and orange tea roses. Susan Fitterer, Pendleton, was maid of honor. Brides maids were Kimee Hague wood, Heppner; Tara Craw ford, LaGrande and Lolita Marquardt, Lexington, all friends of the bride. She was also assisted by Kay Doering of Roseburg. Susan and Becky Evans, sisters-in-law of the bride were candlelighters. They were attired in yellow chiffon gowns and carried long stem med yellow daisies. (Continued on Page 5) Kinzua anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tripp, St. Regis, MT, were hosts of a party held at the Kinzua Com munity Church to honor his parents Arda and Marion Tripp, on their 25th wedding anniversary. Among the guests from out of town enjoying the evening with the Tripps were Zolan and Betty Tripp, Redmond; Quincv and Hazel Tripp, Clarno; Mary and Perky Woods, Edwin Derrick, Bud and Evelyn Hayes, Mike Bair and Dennis and Kristy Ball, all of Fossil.
