The Tollefsons. Steve, Ben 2, Greg 4, and Vicki
Methodist minister arrives
Last Wednesday, the Tollefsons began their
life in Heppner where Steve has been
appointed minister of the United Methodist
Church. They are already saying, "This is a
nice, friendly town."
Steve delivered his first sermon last Sunday
morning, then presided at the afternoon
worship service at the Pioneer Memorial
Hospital and met with the South Morrow
County Ministerial Association Sunday even
ing. Rev. Tollefson is a recent graduate from St.
Paul's School of Theology in Kansas City,
MO. During his three years in seminary he
served four rural churches. Steve grew up in
Nampa, ID, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Clayton Tollefson reside. He is a political
science graduate of the University of Idaho.
After graduation he was an intelligence
officer in the U.S. Army and served in
T Vietnam for one year. He worked for three
I years as sales manager for a motor home and
I mobile home company in Nampa before
I entering St. Paul's Seminary.
Mrs. Tollefson was formerly Vicki Shaw.
She grew up in Gooding, ID, where her
parents Judge and Mrs. Charles Shaw reside.
She and Steve met at the University of Idaho
where she was graduated in secondary
education. She said she would like to do
tutoring in mathmematics here.
For readers who enjoy figures, Steve is now
30, Vicki is 28 and their sons Ben and Greg are
2 and 4-y ears-old. Steve and Vicki are
outdoorsy, active folks. They both enjoy
playing tennis. He likes fishing, jogging and
reading and has played basketball. She favors
skiing and homemaking and is eager to be
preserving foodstuffs for the family.
They have belonged to various organiza
tions where they have lived previously and
seem like fine prospective participants in
Heppner activity groups.
The Tollefsons have hurried to get settled in
the Church St. Methodist parsonage as they
are having family guests over July 4. Steve's
parents and his brother and family are
coming.
