i Tiger Scots nip Mustangs, 18-0 Ifegler's Horner The Wexton McEwen Tiger Scots defeated the Heppner Mustangs ISO last Thursday night to maintain a perfect record In the Columbia Basin Conference League, The win boosted the Tiger-Scots to a S-0 record for the season, as they managed to dominate the ball game with their passing and running attack. The Mustangs, looking for the short pass found quarter back Dick Beamer effective with the 'long bomb.' In the first quarter Beamer connec ted with Charlie Alford on two passes, one good for 40 yards and the other a 76 yard gainer. Kelly Cahill ran the bull into the end ronton runs of 4 and 9 yards respectively for the two Tl)s in the first quarter. Late in the fourth quarter Beamer hit Doug Warner with a 25 yard puss play for the final score of the game. The Tiger Scots gained 20.1 yards rushing and 149 yards in the air, as they held the Mustangs to 113 yards rushing and only 17 yards in the air. Beamer completed 4 )5 pus ses and had 1 intercepted while Mustang quarterback Allslott completed 3 9 with no interceptions. Statistics for the game are as follows: first downs, (11) 5, WM 12; net yards rushing, (II) 113, (WM) 203; net yards passing, (11) 17, (WM) 149 ; rumbles lost, (II) 4 3, (WM) 3 I; penalties (II) 40, (WM) 70. Individual stats for the Mustangs, Wade Padherg had 8 carries for a total of 60 yards, Clayton Wilson had 12 carries for 52 yards. Dave Allslott completed 3 9 passes for 17 yards, Carl Christman had 9 individual tackles and recovered I fumble and Mike Orwick was credited with 8 individual tackles. Coach Wilson said, "The girls all played well and the JVs played one of their best games of the season against Condon, as the team really hustled." In fact, officials could be asking team captains if they want Paul Revere or the Minutemen, instead of heada or tails. The coin used is likely to be the official 1975 Bicentennial commemorative medal, thanks to the efforts of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and a donation from the Interna tional Paper Company of New York . The medal commemorates the famous ride of Paul Revere and depicts the Min uteman Statute on Lexington Common as a tribute to the small band of volunteers who "fired the shot heard round the world." The NCAA, a member of the National Bicentennial Sports Alliance (NBSA), is encour aging all member schools to use the medal to call attention to its availability. Interna tional Paper is picking up the cost of providing the medals to the schools. The medal is issued by the American Revolution Bicen tennial Administration (ARBA) and is produced by the United States Mint. Ifi. 1975 Pirates downed by Huskies The Riverside Pirates were defeated by the Sherman County Huskies, Thursday, 19-6. Robert Richars, Pirates, intercepted the ball on the Huskies third play of the game and ran it into the end zone giving the Pirates a quick 6 0 lead. The Huskies came right back and scored a TD of their own when Steve Burnett ran into the end zone from the 5 yard line, culminating a 79 yard drive. Later in the first quarter, Paul Fritz hit Burnett on a 28 yard pass play and another Huskie TD. In the fourth quarter, Pitts plunged over from the 1 yard line giving the Huskies their eventual 19 6 win. The Pirates were held to 51 yards rushing and a mere 22 yards passing, while the Huskies gained 207 yards rushing and 28 yards in the air. Statistics for the game are as follows: first downs.
