The honored guests included Ruth Payne and Jeanne Dobbs, Pendleton, and Katherine Mitchell and Ida Farra, Heppner, visiting charter members. Sally Smith an officer of the Pendleton Gub also visited. Elaine George, Etta Parker and Eleanor Conty have re mained active with the Hepp ner Club since its chartering in 1648. They and other guests recalled interesting moments in Soroptimist activities of the INFLUENZA CLINIC The Morrow County Health Department is sponsoring an Influenza vaccination clinic for persons over 60 years of age and those who have chronic conditions such as heart disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes, or any chronic debilitating condition. A fee of 12 will be charged and the clinics are scheduled at the following senior citizen nutrition sites: Mon., Oct. 20, 2 4 p.m., at Irrigon Lions Club; Tues., Oct. 21, 2 4 p m., Heppner Elks Club, and Wed., Oct. 22, 4 5, at lone Church of Christ. Sal ly Smith brought greetings from the Pendleton Club. A history of the founding of the organization was read by Education Committee Chair man Justine Weatherford from notes prepared by Elaine George. Soroptimists over the world celebrate Founder's Week during the first week of October in commemoration of the founding of the first club in Alameda County, CA, Oct. 3, 1921. This week's luncheon pro gram will focus on the United Nations and International Goodwill and Understanding and will be presented by Hazel Mahoney, Eleanor Gonty and Elaine George. METAL HEALTH CLINIC TO BE OPEN WEDNESDAYS Starting Oct. 22, the Morrow County Mental Health Clinic will be open on Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. This has become necessary due to the demand for evening appointments from daytime employed people. The clinic will continue with its regular hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of 8:30 a m. to 5 p.m. in the Heppner office and Monday and Thurs day in the Irrigon office. Oct. 16. 1975 inairman Mrs. nowara was JGTON NEWS Delpha Jones Willows Grange will meet Oct. 18 with a potluck supper at 6.30 p.m. This is Grange visitation with Greenfield, Lexington and Rhea Creek coming to Willows Grange. A Friendship Day was held at Willows Grange, Oct. 12 with Mrs. Fay Tarbell, State Grange Secretary as the guest speaker. She spoke on the history of the Grange. Mrs. Tarbell was accom panied by her husband, Mr. Arnold Tarbell, who is Master of Columbia County Pomona, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Avis, Columbia City. The Tar bells are from Scappoose. Other guests were State Steward Morton Wolverton and Mrs. Wolverton and Uma tilla County Pamona Master Joe DuPuis and Mrs. Dupuis. State Gate Kepper Berl Akers and Mrs. Akers, members of Willows Grange, were recog nized. There were guests from Lexington, Rhea Creek and Greenfield Granges as well as friends in the community. Organizations in the area were asked to participate in Friendship Day. Willows Gra nge had an interesting table showing a bit of history of the Grange. There were table displays from the lone Garden Club, lone 4 H Clubs, Topic Club and the Morrow County Historical Society. The guest tables were judg ed by Harold Kerr with first and second awards going to the lone 4 H Clubs and the Garden Club. The Lecturer's program opened with Rev. Cutting giving a prayer. The Grangers then presented the Friendship Road Ceremony. The lone High School Chor us, led by Miss Burton of the music department, sang three numbers. Delta Huber gave a history of the lone Garden Club and told of their projects. The importance of 4 H to our children and some of the high lights were given by Birdine Tullis. Katherine Lindstrom told of the origin of the Topic Club and their work for the community of lone. The Wranglers Club was represented by Cornell Green who told of its early history and of the change to a family club. He also explained about ropes used by the ropers. Ruth McCabe talked on the newly formed Historical Soci ety. At the close of the program refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Jones, Leann Rea, Lexington; Alvin McCabe, lone, Dick Sargent and Liz Curtis, Heppner, attended a Fair committee meeting in Boardman Thurs day evening at the Daltosa home. Present was Zearl Gillespie, Boardman. Three Links Club met at the home of Mrs. Kenneth How ard, Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Messen ger Sr. were Walla Walla visitors Thursday. busy with plans being made for the fall and winter months. A public pinochle party will be held Oct. 25 at the Rebekah hall, 8 p.m., a luncheon will be held election day and the fall bazaar, card party and lunch eon will be held Nov. 13, 10 am. Members and Iriends are urged to keep these dates in mind. Following the business me eting refreshments were serv ed to Florence McMillan, Leila Palmer, Delpha Jones, Irene Padberg, Eula Bloods worth, Catie Padberg. Maur een Davis and the hostess. Florence McMillan won the door prize. There will not be a meeting in November as the bazaar is scheduled for that day.
