State Cow Belle President IVirecn Bradshaw. arrived in Morrow County to greet local Cow Belles and bring news of interest from other areas of Oregon Ms. Bradshaw was guest speaker at the Morrow County CowBelles annual spring lun cheon, held last week at the Episcopal Parish Hall. Hepp ner. Registration at the end of December 1974 showed 1.332 Democrats. 985 Republicans and 117 under the "other" heading At the end of February 1975 the Democrats lost 4 for a total of 1.328. At the same time the Republicans lost 18 while the "other" group remained at 117. There was a total loss of 18 voters. LIBRARY BOARD MEETS TONIGHT The regular April meeting of the board of the Heppner Public Library will meet at 8 p m. tonight at the library. Board Chairman Randall Peterson and members Rita Wolff. Robert Jones. Pauline Winter, Ed Struthers and Myrna Johnson are expected to attend. Librarian Justine Weather ford will not be able to attend because of the sudden death of a Weatherford brother-in-law, Bob Athearn. The Weather fords will be in Sedro Wolley. Irrigon Principal Mike Tolar spoke to the parents of sixth grade students Thursday evening. He informed them of the week long outdoor education class. May 5 9. at the Tupper Guard Center near Heppner ( l.ast year was the first time this type of program had been tried in Morrow County and it was termed a success. Outdoor education provides for first hand learning exper ience in the out-of-doors. It is not a frill to education nor primarily a recreation pro gram, it is a means of enriching regular instruction rather than a replacement of formal textbook instruction. The major portion of the outdoor education curriculum deals with science and con servation. The outdoor setting also offers learning experi ences in health. language arts, arithmetic, social studies and other phases of the school curriculum. The new series was scheduled to completely re place the old series i50 cents. $1, and $5i by July 1. 1975 I'SDA's Food and Nutrition Service has extended the transition from old to new series food stamps for 60 days because of unexpected pro duction and transportation difficulties.
