Following a polluck dinner, meetings were held and new members initiated. Several projects for the coming months were discussed. Feb. 17. the I-egion and Auxiliary held their monthly meeting and potluck dinner at the legion Hall at 7 p.m. legionnaires had a building repair work party early this month and have the building in better shape. Three more service person nel received cookies this month baked by Auxiliary members. Valentine banquet A valentine sweetheart ban quet in conjunction with a Speed the Light Rally was held at the First Assembly of God Church, Pendleton, Sat urday by the Christ Ambas sadors of the Blue Mt. area. The Rev. Ormel Chapin of Salem, who is Oregon Dist, CA. President, was in charge of the rally. The guest speaker was Missionary David Godwin of Panama. Reports were given from the various churches of the area on Speed the Light offerings over the year. A total of close to $10,000 was reported. A delegate and the manager are to attend the Ruralite Services annual meeting on March 27 at Portland to sit In on discussion of plans of Ruralite lo construct a new building at Fores Grove. The coop would be obligated to make a loan to Ruralite for Its share of the costs. Directors heard manager Dave Harrison tell of plana to make the final capital credit payment of 114,265.71 for the years 1961 2-3 in May of this year. Approval of the January capital credits payments to decedent estates of the area was made for $3,474.36. Attorney Herman Winter presented a plan to the directors to study the possibi lity of changing director districts and eliminating the confusing three "directors at large" as at present. Kenneth Smouse, lone, Kenneth Wri ght, Ruggs, and Walt Jaeger, ' Mayville, were appointed to a committee to work out details to recommend to the board. Many new servico. nnd members were added " in Morrow County. There was 10 4 miles' of new line Install ed Approximately 9 8 miles of line was removed to non revenue lines which had been vacant many years in that county, There was a net gain of 95 new services in Morrow County. In Gilliam county, few new member were added during the year and there was a net loss of one member served for the year in Ihe county. There was 18 ! miles of Idle vacated removed and 19 miles of new line lo new members installed in that county In 1974 In Ihe Wheeler county area, Columbia Basin ran 4 32 miles of new line and removed 6 mile of line, There was a net gain of 12 new electric service in Wheeler county. A Mar Basin meet Harrison reported on con tinued good work of meter and technical consultant Everett McKenzie. With records ob tained from his work, it was learned that the new BPA "penalty rate" alone at the Sand Hollow Substation would cost Columbia Basin about $12,480 a year. As a result of a study by the manager, the hoard has taken action to cancel the BPA lease at the Sand Hollow Substation which will save about $4,740 a year. The board was told of potential large increases in the general liability insurance at the next renewal date. Sponsorship of the 4-H leadership banquet for Gil liam County waa approved. Continuing sick leave prob lems of employees and medi cal Insurance coverage was discussed at length. It was announced that the coop has a contractor's crew working on the new 69KV lone to Olex transmission line. Framing of the poles was begun last week and pole setting is under way. A substation is scheduled to be constructed late this summer near Olex, at the terminus of the line.
