Team Pole Bending New Event Team Pole Bending was a new event added to the Rodeo this year. The poles were set up in front of the Grand Stand. There is a 5 pt. penalty for knocking over a pole. The purse was $73. Heppner Wranglers won on Saturday on their re-run of 97.1 penalty 15 for a total time of 112.1 Members of the team were Maureen llealy on Teddy, Joan llealy on Jet's Danny Bar, Janice Healy on Golde and Cindv Dougherty on HeBop Umatilla Sage Riders were 2nd with 102.9 15 penalty for a total of 117.9 and Pendleton Mustangers were 3rd with 145.5 plus 15 penalty for a total of 120.5. On Sunday the Pendleton Mustangers took first place, Heppner Wranglers 2nd and Umatilla Sage Kiders 3rd. Sees Ireland Mrs Jeannette Hodge spent 15 days on a guided tour of Ireland, with lather Larkin and the Franciscan Pilgrim age. She left Pendleton July 22 and flew non stop from Portland to New York. From there to Ireland in 5'j hours. Mrs. Hodge toured 21 count ies in Ireland, seeing many castles and monastaries and beautiful mountain scenery. She kissed the Blarnev stone at Blarney Castle just out of Cork. She visited the family of Father Sullivan of Hermiston in Cork, including his brother and " sisters and his sisters new baby, born June 14.
